'Extreme 84' Kian84 steeled himself as he looked at Tsuki, the youngest of the Extreme crew.
On the 21st episode of MBC's 'Extreme 84', scenes showed Kian84, Lee Eun-ji, Tsuki and Kwon Hwa-un going to France to participate in the Médoc Marathon. The Médoc Marathon is a festival-like marathon with distinctive cosplay and stalls of oysters, wine and various foods along the course. They registered for the half course and trained for about two months.
Their cosplay theme was set as an 'fishing village concept.' Lee Eun-ji was a haenyeo, Kian84 and Kwon Hwa-un were mackerel. Tsuki was assigned a bright red sparkling squid costume but endured it and started practicing to complete the half.
Kwon Hwa-un encouraged, "Tsuki, you run well," and Kian84 said, "I think I run better wearing the outfit," adding, "I'll try to pick up the pace," and sped up. Tsuki steadfastly followed Kian84.
In fact, the costume was overwhelming for Tsuki. Still, he liked setting goals for himself and running toward them. Tsuki said, "I like feeling my limits." The production staff asked, "So you pressure yourself?" and Tsuki replied, "Yes, so I get motivated," showing his determination to carry out his goal anyway. Thus, Tsuki kept a 4-minute-per-kilometer pace, and Kian84 said, "Like a squid fooled by a decoy and pulled onto a boat, Tsuki let out a shriek. Because he didn't want to lose to me? I also started running at full power," saying he was stimulated by Tsuki.
Back at the lodging, Kian84 said, "Tsuki is crazy. He ran 4:15 per kilometer," praising, "That kid had such grit he wouldn't take it off until the end." Tsuki, who had been listening silently, became tearful. Kian84 said, "Tsuki, what's wrong? Did I make you cry, oppa?" looking embarrassed.
Lee Eun-ji said, "Oppa made him cry!" as she tried to cheer up Tsuki. Tsuki bowed his head and said, "I'm sorry." Kian84, sweating profusely, said, "That's not it," and Tsuki began to sob outright. Lee Eun-ji calmly asked, "What feeling made the tears well up so suddenly?"
Tsuki revealed his inner feelings, "I promised my dad. To finish. My dad also ran this 'Médoc Marathon.' He trained for two months, and I was so anxious thinking I might have to give up wearing this squid costume." Kian84 said, "Our crew is the freest place," telling him not to feel too burdened.
At the Médoc Marathon eve party, they enjoyed wine, food and music and got carried away with the fun. Lee Eun-ji declined from the start, saying it was obvious she would overdrink if she drank. Kian84 seemed somewhat excited and drank quite a bit of wine. Kian84 said, "Tsuki, I drank to give you a handicap. Honestly, I view you as a rival," saying words to build Tsuki's confidence. Tsuki, flustered, said, "I don't see you as a rival!" and Kian84 encouraged him, "I think you'll finish in under four hours tomorrow. Let's have a friendly rivalry," encouraging Tsuki.
