Actress Lee Si-young shared her daily life at a luxury postpartum care center after giving birth to her second daughter.
On the 22nd, Lee Si-young released a video on her YouTube channel 'Ppushiyoung' titled 'Hello, Ssikssik greets you. Feat. the story of losing 9kg at the postpartum care center.'
After giving birth to her second daughter, Lee Si-young headed to the postpartum care center. The postpartum care center Lee Si-young used was located in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, and is known as the most expensive postpartum care center in the country, costing from a minimum of 12 million won to a maximum of 50 million won for a two-week stay. It features private gardens, a spa, dermatology services, and strict privacy that minimizes external exposure, and top-star couples such as Hyunbin and Son Ye-jin, Lee Byung-hun and Rhee Minjung, Yeon Jung-hoon and Han Ga-in, Kwon Sang Woo and Son Tae-young, Jisung and Lee Bo-young, and Jang Dongkeon and Ko So-young have also used it.
After entering the postpartum care center and regaining her strength by tasting a feast, Lee Si-young introduced various parts of the center. She said she chose this postpartum care center because her first son could visit and because visits from friends or acquaintances were allowed even without a spouse, which she found satisfactory.
Later, Lee Si-young brought her daughter who had come out of the neonatal intensive care unit. Because she was born premature, extra caution was needed, and Lee Si-young looked at the baby through the NICU glass and checked the navel (umbilical cord) and so on. In university hospital neonatal intensive care units, if an infant's umbilical cord becomes detached, it is ordinarily discarded immediately, so Lee Si-young's daughter had no navel. To a nurse who came to ask if there was no umbilical cord, Lee Si-young said, "Please check if there is even any navel residue. If there is any residue, give it to me. The mother said she wanted to go to the NICU trash can and bring someone else's navel if she could."
While continuing life at the postpartum care center, Lee Si-young said, "We gave the BCG vaccine, but Ssikssik's ear was a bit pressed, so an otolaryngologist taped the ear," relaying the child's condition, and added, "I need to recover my body, and Ssikssik is so premature that I'm cautious. I've been here for 10 days, but the child hasn't been here that long. I was depressed during the week without the child. Because it's the second child, I thought I could raise the baby well, but at 1.9kg as a premature baby, I went back to being a total novice mother," showing her anxiety.
Lee Si-young said, "I worked really hard because I didn't want to gain weight, but I gained a lot at the end. During the three weeks I was hospitalized, I couldn't even walk and used a wheelchair, so my weight increased a lot then. At the end, my weight was about 64kg. I gained about 11kg, but just before leaving the postpartum care center I was 55kg. I succeeded in losing about 9kg," she said. In particular, Lee Si-young asked for much support, saying, "I will raise the baby well entirely by my own strength."
