2025 KBS 2TV one-act project 'Love : Track' episodes 'There is no man to carry dad's coffin' and "kimchi" illuminate the essence of love in depth through differing textures of relationships and emotions, continuing the project's smooth progress.
On the 21st at 10:50 p.m., the 2025 KBS 2TV one-act project 'Love : Track' episodes 'There is no man to carry dad's coffin' (directed by Bae Eun-hye / written by Yeom Bo-ra) and "kimchi" (directed by Lee Young-seo / written by Kang Han) portrayed the many faces of love completed amid sadness and understanding through contrasting narratives of a love triangle and a mother-child relationship.
'There is no man to carry dad's coffin' delivered a poignant resonance by depicting the psychological process of only daughter Choi Su-a (played by Kim Yoon-hye), who must arrange her father's funeral, torn between her ex-boyfriend of 10 years Han Jung-min (played by Kwon Soo-hyun) and her current boyfriend of 100 days Kang In-ho (played by Kim Min-cheol). In front of Su-a, who had no one to help with the funeral, both ex-boyfriend Jung-min and current boyfriend In-ho appeared at the funeral hall at the same time.
Confused Su-a introduced Jung-min as her cousin to coworkers including In-ho, heightening the tension. Eventually, when Jung-min revealed that he was her ex-boyfriend, the psychological battle between In-ho and Jung-min began in earnest.
After the conflict, Su-a poured out the emotions she had suppressed, and Jung-min also confessed the sincerity he had been unable to show as a lover. On the day of the funeral procession, Su-a asked In-ho and Jung-min to carry her father's coffin together. It was the first time Su-a, who had feared being a burden to anyone until the end, summoned the courage to be honest. The ending, in which the three poured out their long-suppressed grief, choked up viewers as well.
The following episode, "kimchi," delicately depicted the tender love and dilemma between mother and child through the conflict between mother Park Young-mi (played by Kim Seon-young) and her son Oh Min-woo (played by Kim Dan), after learning that her son was a sexual minority. Young-mi, who had been hiding a stage-1 lung cancer diagnosis, fell into great turmoil after discovering, prompted by a blackmail text, that a photo of her son kissing a man was about to be leaked.
Young-mi's love, which sought to protect her son in the name of being a mother, gradually turned into obsession, and Min-woo ultimately disappeared. When Min-woo later reappeared and introduced his friend Sera as his girlfriend, Young-mi knowingly pretended not to know the truth.
After remarriage, Young-mi recalled the time when she was forced to eat kimchi. She realized that the son who had always been on her side had been sustaining her life. Ultimately, Young-mi went to find Min-woo, offered a sincere apology, and took the first step toward understanding and empathy, delivering deep emotion to the home audience.
In this way, Kim Yoon-hye, Kim Min-cheol and Kwon Soo-hyun's 'There is no man to carry dad's coffin' and Kim Seon-young and Kim Dan's "kimchi" showcased the short but powerful appeal unique to one-act dramas through emotionally resonant performances, high-quality scripts and sensuous directing. Each portrayed delicate expressions of love within different relationships and situations, once again proving the strength of KBS one-act dramas.
Viewers reacted with comments such as "Love Track kimchi I hope people watch it," "It's so good, what an aftertaste," and "All the acting today is so intense."
Meanwhile, on the 24th (Wed) at 9:50 p.m., 'A star's love' and 'Min-ji Min-ji Min-ji' will take over the baton of the 2025 KBS 2TV one-act project 'Love : Track'.<
