'Melo queen' Choi Ji-woo returned to the screen as a 'son-adoring mother.'
Choi Ji-woo attended the production presentation for the film 'Sugar' (director Choi Shin-chun, distributor Studio Target Co., Ltd. · 300 Sanghoe Co., Ltd., produced by Horangi Giun · Message Film Co., Ltd.) held on the 18th at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. Actors Min Jin-woong and Go Dong-ha also attended the event.
On that day Choi Ji-woo drew attention with an all-white suit look. She paired a double-breasted jacket with a white turtleneck to evoke the season while emphasizing a formal atmosphere. She completed the look with straight pants matched to the top and black pointed heels to achieve 'unexaggerated luxury,' flaunting her unchanged beauty.
'Sugar' is a human drama that depicts the miraculous story of a mother who, after struggling desperately to save her young son diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, ultimately changes the world.
Choi Ji-woo plays the role of Mira, a mother who fights the world's prejudices to protect her child. At the production presentation, she was seen checking the costume of Go Dong-ha, who plays her son, before entering the venue, and she revealed her 'son-adoring' side by not taking her eyes off him throughout the press conference, drawing attention.
Grasping the microphone, Choi Ji-woo said, "When I first received the script, perhaps because it was after I gave birth, it hit me more heavily and I felt more drawn to it," expressing her thoughts on appearing in the film.
Regarding how she has recently been meeting the public as a 'mother' in works and variety shows, she said, "I didn't insist on playing 'mother' roles, but it seems to be a process that naturally flows for actresses," and added, "I learn a lot, and I constantly ponder how to live and what kind of mother I want to be. It makes me think once more about what mindset I should have going forward."
Meanwhile, the film 'Sugar' opens on Jan. 21, 2026.
