Actor Kang Ye-won talked about reactions after restoring her epicanthoplasty.
On the 20th, a video titled "Kang Ye-won "Am I going to live alone and die like this" I went to my sister's house and came back after being asked for a blind date... lol" was uploaded to Han Chae-ah's YouTube channel.
That day Han Chae-ah visited Kang Ye-won's home, shared a meal and talked. Then Kang Ye-won recounted an anecdote: "I went to a restaurant recently and in the next seat senior Jun Do-yeon was dining with her daughter. She was wearing a hat so the friend who came with me said it was Jun Do-yeon. I had never seen senior Jun Do-yeon before. It was the first time seeing her that day. But she is a senior. So I thought I should greet her."
She said, "I just went up and said, 'Hello, I'm Kang Ye-won. These days people often don't recognize me, so I'm Kang Ye-won.' Then she exclaimed, 'Oh my!' and greeted me warmly. I said that to turn the embarrassment into a witty laugh. I was worried it might be awkward. After I came, she paid for the meal and left. I contacted her: 'You paid for the meal and left. Please tell her I'm very grateful and that I enjoyed it.' Then senior Jun Do-yeon asked me to convey that she was 'very thankful that I came first to say hello,' she said."
She added, "I asked, 'That's only natural, so why are you grateful?' and she replied, 'There are many people who don't do that.' It felt a bit barren. I thought people might not greet because they are shy, but the other person might see it that way," she confessed.
Han Chae-ah responded, "There are many reasons. People might be shy, or greeting could make the other person uncomfortable. You might not know what kind of situation it is and could be a nuisance, or if the person is a newer actor they might not recognize me," showing empathy.
In response, Kang Ye-won joked, "I should have said like me: 'Lately people don't recognize me. I'm Kang Ye-won.' I would have had to show my Naver search result," drawing laughter.
Han Chae-ah exclaimed, "How lovely," and Kang Ye-won candidly added, "When people I haven't seen in a long time see me these days they go, 'Huh?' It hurts. So I go around saying, 'Hello, I'm Kang Ye-won,' promoting myself," which made everyone laugh.
