Park Jung-yeon in Our Golden Days is winning viewers' sympathy and support with a vivid performance as Park Young-ra, the youngest daughter of a chaebol family who breaks free from her parents' shadow to find her own life.
On the Dec. 20 episode of KBS2 Our Golden Days, Young-ra, who decided to become a full-time webtoon artist, was shown learning Ji Eun-o's (Jung In-sun) identity and seeking her out.
Young-ra declared she would become a full-time webtoon artist even if her father did not give permission, saying give me the Rapunzel story that Lee Ji-wan (Son Sang-yeon) conceived. Later, visiting her brother Han Woo-jin's (Kim Jun-ho) hospital room, Young-ra was introduced to Ji Eun-o by Woo-jin as a friend and obtained Eun-o's business card. Woo-jin confessed that he was actually the author of the webtoon Young-ra had intensely read on her recommendation, and Young-ra received Woo-jin's warm consolation and support. In fact, Young-ra had overheard the conversation between Woo-jin and Eun-o outside the hospital room and was surprised to realize they were twins. Then, saying she had come to see her sister, Young-ra went to Eun-o's office, and in the ending that raised the tension to its peak, she boldly retorted to the startled Eun-o, "Don't we have the same mother? It's Go Sung-hee."
Park Jung-yeon, who had calmly portrayed Young-ra as a doll who moved according to her mother Go Sung-hee's (Lee Tae-ran) wishes, vividly depicted Young-ra's change into someone who encounters another world through Ji-wan and moves by her own will, earning the absolute support and backing of Our Golden Days viewers. In particular, after Young-ra's declaration to become a full-time webtoon artist and her brave act of seeking Eun-o alone, viewer support continued after the broadcast that day with comments such as "surprisingly the strongest character Park Young-ra" and "Young-ra is getting braver, don't give up to your mother!"
Meanwhile, Our Golden Days, which is being increasingly loved with each episode thanks to the solid performances of actors including Park Jung-yeon and its interesting developments, will air its 40th episode at 8 p.m. on Dec. 21, Sunday.
