Actor Kim Seon-young and Kim Dan portray a mother and son whose dilemma between love and truth is deeply explored in the 2025 KBS 2TV one-act project "Love: Track."
The sixth episode of "kimchi" of "Love: Track," airing today, the 21st (Sunday) (directed by Lee Young-seo / written by Kang Han), is a drama depicting the conflict a mother, Young-mi, experiences when she confronts the truth after learning her son's secret through threatening text messages.
Kim Seon-young leads the story as Park Young-mi, the mother of Min-woo (played by Kim Dan) who has been diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer. Kim Dan plays the role of Oh Min-woo, a son who appears exemplary on the outside but harbors a secret he cannot speak of, adding tension to the drama.
Stills released ahead of today's broadcast capture Young-mi (played by Kim Seon-young) with a resolute expression and Min-woo (played by Kim Dan) with hollow eyes, arousing curiosity about the hidden story between them. In particular, Young-mi's forlorn appearance, as if swept up in the whirlwind of a shocking incident, foreshadows the gravity of the plot and heightens immersion.
Young-mi, who had been hiding the fact that she was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer from her son, learns from an unexpected phone call that Min-woo is being blackmailed by someone. Shock gives way quickly, and when Young-mi faces the reason for the blackmail, she falls into greater confusion and despair. Min-woo, whom she had thought was only a bright son, also carried wounds and secrets he could not tell his mother, and when the truth is revealed, the mother-and-son conflict reaches a climax.
Because they are family, they want understanding, but because they are family, they face a dilemma that makes understanding harder; "kimchi" is expected to portray another face of love. The actors' passionate performances are also a viewing point. Kim Seon-young is expected to draw viewers' emotions by delicately portraying the mother's inner conflict and maternal love. Kim Dan also supports the drama's immersion by expressing the character's complex emotions with restrained acting.
"kimchi," which will tug at the living room theater's tear ducts and question the meaning of love, is the sixth episode of the 2025 KBS2 one-act project "Love: Track," and will air Dec. 21 (Sunday) at 10:50 p.m.
