Park Myung-soo recalled a time during filming of 'Infinite Challenge' when he pushed himself too hard to get laughs, and candidly confessed the health crisis he experienced as a result.
On the 20th the YouTube channel 'Hal Myung-soo' released a video titled "They say the dujjongku trend is popular so we came to Dubai but they don't sell this in Dubai Minho, Dubai part 2, Hal Myung-soo ep.267." The video showed Park Myung-soo and SHINee Minho traveling in Dubai.
While eating, Park Myung-soo cautiously opened up, recalling past variety show shoots. He said, "On 'Infinite Challenge' I picked up food with my hands and ate it. I even just grabbed hot sweet and sour pork and ate it," and recalled, "The members said, 'Myung-soo hyung, what are you doing,' but I at the time brushed it off thinking, 'What's the big deal.'"
He added, "Looking back now, I think I even picked up things that fell on the ground and ate them," and said, "At that time my nickname became 'Cool Myung-soo,' and I think I pushed myself more to be funny." Park Myung-soo calmly reflected on his choices, saying, "It was done to be funny, but in the end that led to hepatitis A." He also added, "I think I really lived hard," conveying the reality behind the laughter.
Park Myung-soo was shown being hospitalized with acute hepatitis A through MBC's 'Infinite Challenge,' which aired in 2009, raising viewers' concerns. Since then he has repeatedly emphasized the importance of basic hygiene practices, such as hand washing, saying on radio and various broadcasts, "To prevent hepatitis A, personal hygiene is most important."
After the broadcast, online responses of empathy and support for Park Myung-soo's confession continued.
