Mukbang YouTuber Nareum confessed that she was a victim of school violence.
On the 18th, Nareum posted a video on her personal channel titled "The story of a school violence perpetrator who even made an anti-cafe for me debuting as an idol."
That day Nareum said, "A few years ago I was flipping through TV channels and saw the audition program 'Produce 101' season 2 and recognized a familiar face. It was one of my school violence perpetrators," she said.
She said she was subjected to school violence in fourth grade and claimed, "At the time, Daum Cafe was all the rage, and because my name was Nareum, they made a 'Nasitmo' cafe, meaning a group that hates Nareum, and every day they wrote insults about me and giggled. The 10-year-olds were pretty cunning."
Nareum said, "At school they talked about the cafe posts. Can you imagine a 10-year-old reading my anti-cafe posts filled with insults? Honestly, I don't know what I did so wrong. I was so timid back then that I wouldn't do anything," she revealed.
She said, "I remember telling my mother because I couldn't endure it, meeting with the homeroom teacher, and on the way home I cried, 'If I die, will they be punished? I hope they are punished.' Even now, 20 years later, I remember the atmosphere and the conversation from that day," she said.
Nareum said that she later found the perpetrator's account on social media and sent a message but was ignored. She said, "That friend was eliminated and did not debut from that program, but is currently debuting with another agency," and added, "I don't wish for them to fail. They are not a very famous idol yet, but just as everyone has a shining period, surely that friend's shining time will come."
Nareum added, "I wish they would at least say they were too young and apologize," and Nareum's twin sister Darum also commented, "It upsets me to think about it. I can't forget standing in the hallway watching when the homeroom teacher and our parents had a meeting in the classroom," testifying in a comment.
