Lyricist Maybe and comedian Kim Young-hee each conveyed deep sorrow as they announced the sudden deaths of their pet dogs.
Maybe posted on social media on the 19th about her pet Runi's final moments. She said, "Runi was admitted to the night clinic. When the doctor asked whether to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, I said, 'I do not want it.' I asked them to contact me if that happened while there was still breath left," recounting the desperate situation at the time.
She added, "He was a child who had never been apart from family at night. I was so worried he might think he was alone," and said she spent the night in tears. At 6:42 a.m., a phone call brought the sad news. Maybe said, "When I rushed over because his heart had stopped, Runi was lying in a purple box. He was warm as if asleep," and sobbed.
She said, "On Dec. 1, when I bought a lot of treats and Runi sat in front of them, he left without even eating the treats," and sadly added, "It was just atopic dermatitis, but I blamed myself, wondering what I did wrong."
After being diagnosed with atopic dermatitis, Runi was prescribed steroids but did not improve; later he was given an antiemetic, painkillers and treatment for otitis media before being diagnosed with pulmonary edema. His condition rapidly worsened and ultimately led to cardiac arrest.
On the same day, Kim Young-hee also announced on social media the death of her pet Donggeul. She said, "On Dec. 19, Donggeul took a long journey," and recalled, "He had been abandoned and abused, leaving him with a lame hind leg, but he was a dog who ran faster than anyone."
Kim Young-hee said, "He was estimated to be 5 years old at the time of adoption. We saved him from the brink of euthanasia, and the image of him holding his head up stiffly in the car is still vivid," and expressed, "Since that day he never once hung his head; he was a proud and smart dog."
She continued, "I shed sorrow and tears, but I couldn't share all the happiness. You left just before a day I was happy about being a candidate for an award," swallowing her tears. "Looking at the photos, there are as many of you as there are of my daughter. I can't forget you, who were the most special to me. I hope you run freely in heaven without limping," she confessed.
Kim Young-hee posted photos of the late pet and added, "I'm afraid there are several more farewells I will have to send in the future."
