Dr. Oh Eun-young revealed the story of how she came to pursue a career as a physician.
On the night of the 20th, the fifth episode of MBN 'Kim Joo-ha's Day & Night' featured psychiatrist and medical doctor Oh Eun-young, who opened up about the reasons she chose to become a doctor.
That night Kim Joo-ha asked Oh Eun-young, "Was your childhood dream to be a psychiatrist?" to which Oh Eun-young replied, "It wasn't psychiatry, but I wanted to become a doctor since I was young," and recalled memories of her childhood.
Oh Eun-young explained the situation, "One evening my father called my older brother and me and said he was going into surgery the next day. They found stomach cancer during a health checkup." She added that he said, "You two should go to school and don't be shaken," and he handed over several bankbooks.
She recalled, "He said, 'If anything happens, college tuition is prepared, so don't be shaken and live well,'" and when Moon Se-yoon, who was listening, said, "It must not have been very early," Oh Eun-young calmly said, "I was in the first year of middle school, and in those days cancer meant death. It wasn't a diagnosis; it was a sentence."
Oh Eun-young went on, "From then on I began to pray. I prayed that if my father's health was restored, I would study hard and devote my life to doing my best for patients who are physically and mentally ill." She added, "Fortunately my father had surgery and lived to 94. I thought my prayer was answered."
She said, "I didn't want to study but I sighed and studied," and added, "Because the beloved and respected father's health was restored, I also tried to keep my promise," leaving the studio solemn.
Oh Eun-young was born in 1965 and is 60 this year. She is a psychiatrist and medical doctor who continues active work through writing, lectures, broadcasts and YouTube.<
