'2025 Melon Music Awards' G-Dragon swept the stage by winning three of MMA's four grand prizes in 2025.
On the 20th at Gocheok Sky Dome, the '2025 Melon Music Awards' (Wavve, Melon) ceremony was held. From the start, G-Dragon drew attention by filling a singer's seat as a senior artist.
G-Dragon first received the 'Best Songwriter.' G-Dragon said, "As a singer receiving a lyricist-composer award, I don't think there could be a greater honor. The album I made this year marked my first album after leaving YG, where I stayed for a long time. Thanks to The Black Label, YG, and many artists who helped. Thank you for loving me," adding, "I sincerely hope that the day will come when artists become the best songwriters."
Having made every album a hit, G-Dragon also drew attention by winning 'Millions Top Ten.' G-Dragon said, "Yes, do you see me often?" and added, "My world tour ended here last week. I'm happy to receive a good award a week later, and I want to share this honor with global fans around the world who love Korean artists. Thank you," offering his remarks with a bashful tone.
G-Dragon performed the stages for 'Home Sweet Home' and 'Power' solo this year. There was an expectation that Taeyang might appear for Taeyang's vocal part, but Taeyang did not appear. G-Dragon also performed 'Bbidda-kkage.' The atmosphere was so heated that the entire audience swayed. After G-Dragon's stage ended, the presentation of grand prizes took place. The first grand prize, 'Record of the Year,' was won by Jennie. The awards for 'Album of the Year,' 'Artist of the Year,' and 'Best Song of the Year' were all claimed by G-Dragon.
At the first grand prize, G-Dragon said, "I'm out of it after coming down from the stage, but thank you for giving me this big award. This year is always special and precious, but it feels like it will be a particularly meaningful year for me personally," adding, "There were many first-time attempts, so it took a long time to make this album, and although the album title is difficult and sounds pretentious, the meaning is actually 'transcendent self,' a self that surpasses something, but personally it was like a chant."
When receiving the second grand prize, G-Dragon said, "This is not a replay now. I have now received the second grand prize. It feels valuable because it's given by my respected senior Yoon Jong-shin," adding, "I have no words other than that I'm happy and thankful, but thank you once again, and I will do better," expressing his resolve.
At the final grand prize, G-Dragon said, "I'm really happy. The road to receiving awards is long and rough. But because it has that much meaning, it's not hard at all, and I'm so happy," and then said, "I ate samgyetang the other day. Oh, I'm happy! Thank you!" before mentioning Big Bang members and offering thanks once more.
