Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC (Director General Lee Dohyun, hereafter Jeonbuk Hyundai) player Song Mingyu and announcer Kwak Minseon will become a married couple.
Song Mingyu and Kwak Minseon will hold their wedding today (20th) at a location in Seoul with the blessings of both families, relatives and acquaintances.
Their relationship began through an interview, and after years of dating they have tied the knot.
Earlier, Song Mingyu on May scored in a K League 1 match against FC Seoul and made a public proposal with his goal celebration. At the time, after scoring he drew attention by kneeling on one knee toward the camera and making a gesture as if offering a ring. Song Mingyu explained that it was a "goal celebration proposing to his girlfriend" and said that their wedding was scheduled for later this year.
Song Mingyu said, "I will start a new chapter with the precious person who has always been a great source of strength by my side," and added, "I will continue to do my best as a player and as a person with a greater sense of responsibility."
Song Mingyu's bride-to-be is announcer Kwak Minseon. Kwak Minseon was born in 1992, seven years older than Song Mingyu (born in 1999). After graduating from Sookmyung Women's University with a degree in media, Kwak Minseon gained recognition through MTN Money Today Broadcasting in 2016. She has worked as an announcer for SPOTV since 2019. Last year she revealed that while hosting an event she was hit in the eye by celebratory gunfire and has been receiving treatment for her eye and overall facial area, drawing sympathy.
Song Mingyu debuted in 2018 with Pohang Steelers and has played for Jeonbuk Hyundai since 2021. He was also selected for the national team and scored one goal in 14 appearances.
