An unusual stage that broke down the boundaries between gugak and trot was born on 'Miss Trot 4'.
On the 18th broadcast of TV CHOSUN 'Miss Trot 4 Yeoin Cheonha: Women who charm the world' first episode, contestants with different backgrounds, including Yoo Si-eun, a former contestant of Single's Inferno Season 4, soprano Park Hong-ju, Roola main vocalist Kim Ji-hyun, singer Jeok-woo, and singer No Sa-bong, the biological sister of No Sa-yeon, appeared in large numbers, drawing attention.
That day, Huh Sae-rom, who took the stage as a cross-genre division contestant, introduced herself, saying, "I am Huh Sae-rom, a saenghwang researcher who followed the gugak elite course and the all-heart course," showing a distinctive presence. The instrument Huh Sae-rom held was the traditional wind instrument saenghwang, somewhat unfamiliar to the general public.
Huh Sae-rom explained, "The saenghwang is a traditional instrument of Korea, and it can produce sounds similar to a harmonica. It is the only wind instrument that can produce harmony," piquing the masters' curiosity.
The song she chose was 'Seoul Tango.' When the accompaniment began, Huh Sae-rom presented a stage featuring saenghwang performance, and the tango melody reinterpreted with gugak instruments created a unique charm. The judging table stirred at the sound, which was very different from familiar trot, and hearts continued before the stage ended, completing an all-heart.
Park Sun-joo praised, "I had only seen the instrument saenghwang in pictures in music books and heard it played for the first time," adding, "This is the kind of stage I hoped for from the cross-genre division. I think people who have definitely done their work in their field should come out, and she showed that precisely."
Huh Sae-rom's attempt, which maintained the identity of the traditional gugak instrument while naturally blending it into a trot stage, was a moment that clearly showed the direction of the cross-genre division of 'Miss Trot 4'.
