College division contestant Gil Ryeowon became the first recipient of an all-heart on "Miss Trot 4" with a stage that combined both visuals and skill.
Yesterday, on the 18th, TV CHOSUN's "Miss Trot 4: The Women Who Enchant the World" premiered, featuring Single's Inferno Season 4 alum Yoo Si-eun, soprano Park Hong-joo, Rula main vocalist Kim Ji-hyun, singer Jeokwoo, and singer No Sa-bong, the older sister of No Sa-yeon, among many contestants who combined topicality and talent and drew attention.
Gil Ryeowon, who took the stage as a college division contestant, captured the masters' attention the moment she appeared. Kim Hee-jae marveled, "Her visuals are overwhelming," and Bae Ah-hyun also could not hide her surprise, saying, "Her face is glowing." The bright atmosphere, reminiscent of a girl group center, naturally drew the studio's gaze.
Gil Ryeowon, who is currently a nursing student, focused attention by confessing, "The reason I got into trot is because of the master here," and when Park Ji-hyun reacted shyly, Kim Hee-jae lightened the mood by saying, "Why are you stealing women's hearts like that?"
Gil Ryeowon candidly revealed, "Master Park Ji-hyun really appealed to me, so I watched 'Mr. Trot 2' diligently and fell into trot, which brought me here." When Kim Sung-joo pointed out, "At that time the winner was Ahn Seong-hoon," Gil Ryeowon continued, "But the number one in my heart is—" and quickly smoothed things over with, "Both of you were number one. I think I said it wrong," prompting laughter.
That day Gil Ryeowon chose Kim Yong-im's "Flower Wind" and took the stage. With steady breath control and a resonant tone that captivated ears from the first phrase, she ultimately recorded the first all-heart on "Miss Trot 4," leaving a strong presence. Song Ga-in and Yang Ji-eun praised the highly polished performance, saying, "She's almost like an active-duty singer."
Original artist Kim Yong-im praised, "The start of this song is important. It requires tempo control, but her tone opened up and she did very well," and added, "It felt like seeing my younger self." Jang Yoon-jung also complimented, "When the college division walked out together, only Ryeowon stood out. She's pretty and sings well, so I'm grateful," and added, "Her voice wasn't an imitation of anyone, so it felt fresher, and it was a stage that could easily enchant."
After the broadcast, internet users flooded reactions such as, "I was surprised by her visuals but she can sing well, too," "She gives off the early debut vibe of Hong Jin-young," "She's girl-group center level but has trot sensibility as well," "It's more surprising that she's a nursing student," and "She deserved the first all-heart," saying she was a contestant with both looks and talent.
Meanwhile, "Miss Trot 4: The Women Who Enchant the World" heralds the birth of the next generation of trot queens and airs every Thursday at 10 p.m. on TV CHOSUN.<
