News of actress Yoon Seok-hwa's death was reported, but it was confirmed that this is not true. The Korean Actors Association issued an official apology for the incorrect report.
The association issued an urgent correction on the morning of the 19th, saying, "We correct the report that actress Yoon Seok-hwa has died, which is not true," and "We sincerely apologize for causing confusion without verifying the accurate facts."
Earlier, the association had released a press release in the early morning announcing that Yoon Seok-hwa had died on the afternoon of the 18th at around 9 p.m. while her family watched. However, subsequent verification revealed that Yoon Seok-hwa is still undergoing treatment under her family's care.
The association said, "Actor Yoon Seok-hwa is currently battling a malignant brain tumor and her condition is critical, but it has been finally confirmed that she is maintaining respiration at her family's side."
It added, "We bow our heads and deeply apologize to the family members and fans who cherish the actress for causing confusion without having confirmed the accurate facts," and reiterated, "We deeply feel responsible for causing great hurt to the family who most of all wish for her recovery."
Since appearing in the play "Hamlet" in 2022, Yoon Seok-hwa underwent surgery for a malignant brain tumor in October of the same year and has been battling the illness. Last year she made a short cameo appearance in the play "Toccata," showing her continued love for the stage.
