'Trusted performer' Monsta X (MONSTA X) Kihyun added to his role on 'The Masked Musician.'
Kihyun released the track 'Bad Liar' — which he performed with contestants on the Netflix variety show 'The Masked Musician,' where he serves as a judge — on the 18th.
'Bad Liar' is a track from Kihyun's first solo album YOUTH, written and composed by member Hyungwon as a gift to Kihyun. The track captures a complex mix of feelings — not wanting to go back to each other and wanting to return — and is characterized by Kihyun's powerful vocals and delicate control of dynamics, creating a dramatic atmosphere.
Earlier, Kihyun appeared in the third-round duet mission on episode 6 of 'The Masked Musician,' which aired on the 17th. Paired with contestants 'Tapdong rock idol I' and 'Jeongdong-myeon gangcheolseongdae,' Kihyun selected 'Bad Liar' himself, considering the two contestants' strengths — solid high-note technique and explosive vocal power — and showed confidence before the stage, raising expectations for the trio's synergy.
When the stage began, Kihyun heightened immersion by adding delicate vocals to the sensuous melody, freely showcasing powerful high notes and delivering thrills with not only his unexpected charm but also perfect harmony with the contestants. With clean head voice and harmonies that added a dreamy atmosphere to the bridge, Kihyun completed an unmissable performance by trading high-note relays with the contestants until the end.
Through that performance, Kihyun unleashed his hidden 'rock spirit,' drawing attention from both the venue and viewers, and now delivers that same thrill again with the release of 'Bad Liar,' which he recorded with finalist 'Jeongdong-myeon gangcheolseongdae.'
Kihyun has shown a variety of facets while serving as a judge on 'The Masked Musician,' which was first released on Netflix in November. In particular, his cold, objective judging born from audition experience and his warm, empathetic advice have left a deep impression each week.
Monsta X, of which Kihyun is a member, launched the 2025 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball tour starting at Madison Square Garden in New York on the 12th. They will finish their final show in Miami on the 20th and will hold a new world tour, The X: NEXUS, at Seoul KSPO Dome from Jan. 30 to Feb. 1, 2026.
