Comedian Park Na-rae has been engulfed in allegations of illegal medical practices related to 'Jusa Imo,' and broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo, who appeared with her for a long time on I Live Alone, quickly clarified after footage of him receiving an IV in a car was belatedly reexamined.
On the 19th, a representative of Jun Hyun-moo's agency, SM C&C, told OSEN regarding the past broadcast scenes recently circulating online, "At the time Jun Hyun-moo's throat condition was not good, and he received treatment at a hospital under the care and prescription of the attending physician. As there was not enough time before the shooting schedule, part of the process of finishing treatment while moving under the doctor's judgment was exposed on the broadcast," and they expressed an official position dismissing the allegations of illegal medical practice.
They added, "All medical procedures except for the completion of the treatment were carried out in the hospital according to the medical staff's judgment and prescription. There was no personal summons of medical personnel or receipt of illegal procedures," and drew a line by saying, "The allegations currently being raised are misunderstandings that arose when some scenes were mentioned online without the full situation and context at the time being adequately conveyed."
They went on to ask, "To prevent the spread of misunderstandings that are not based on fact, please refrain from groundless speculation and distorted interpretations."
Earlier that morning, photos showing Jun Hyun-moo receiving an IV in a car were rapidly circulating online. The photos were released in episode 142 of the MBC entertainment program I Live Alone, which aired on Jan. 29, 2016, and at the time Jun Hyun-moo, who was suffering from vocal cord nodules due to a busy schedule, shared photos of himself receiving an IV in the car in the cast group messenger out of envy. Startled, Kim Young-chul called Jun Hyun-moo worriedly, asking, "Hyun-moo, are you getting an IV?" and Jun Hyun-moo explained, "It's because my throat condition isn't good."
At the time of the broadcast it was not a major issue. Rather, sympathy formed for Jun Hyun-moo, who was worn out both physically and mentally by a busy schedule and even malicious comments.
However, recently the I Live Alone core member Park Na-rae has become embroiled in controversy nine years after the show through former managers' revelations that she allegedly used 'Jusa Imo' and 'ringer imo' to facilitate illegal medical practices. Questions arose about whether receiving an IV in a nonmedical space, and furthermore in a vehicle that is not a designated ambulance, is legal. As the controversy grew, it appears the agency quickly drew a line regarding the allegations.
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae is facing various allegations including abuse of power, illegal medical practices, and failure to register a one-person agency following revelations by former managers. In response, Park Na-rae's side said she felt responsible and suspended activities, but at the same time filed countersuits against the former managers for extortion and has remained silent, saying she will clarify her position through legal judgment. Meanwhile, it was revealed that, related to 'Jusa Imo,' SHINee's Key and YouTuber Ipjjalheun Haetnim also thought the person was a medical professional and received house-call treatment at their respective homes, and they have suspended broadcasting activities.
