Comedian Park Na-rae stepped down from all variety shows and suspended activities amid allegations of abuse of power and the so-called "injection aunt" controversy, and the broadcast industry has continued to cut ties, such as removing traces of Park Na-rae from Save Me! Homes.
On the 18th, Save Me! Homes aired the second part of chef Jung Ji-seon and Kim Sook's "Asia megacity Shanghai on-site visit," continuing from last week. Park Na-rae participated in the recording that day, but her appearance was thoroughly edited out, drawing attention.
Some studio scenes were briefly exposed during the broadcast, but most were edited to angles that did not show Park Na-rae, and her personal remarks were muted or deleted, effectively erasing her presence. This is interpreted as a measure taken after producers announced they would minimize Park Na-rae's airtime following the recent controversy.
Park Na-rae has been embroiled in multiple allegations, including abuse of power, proxy prescriptions, illegal medical practices and embezzlement, following revelations by former managers. The former managers claimed that while Park Na-rae worked at her one-person agency she subjected them to verbal abuse, forced them to run personal errands and failed to pay hosting fees, and they filed for provisional seizure of real estate worth 100 million won at the Seoul Western District Court and submitted a complaint to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station alleging embezzlement.
In response, Park Na-rae's side denied the allegations, saying the former managers pressured her with false claims after demanding 10% of company sales and being refused, and they countersued for attempted extortion. However, the controversy grew when circumstances emerged suggesting Park Na-rae received illegal procedures from an unlicensed medical practitioner known as the "injection aunt."
Ultimately, Park Na-rae withdrew from major variety programs including MBC's I Live Alone, Save Me! Homes and tvN's Amazing Saturday, and halted all broadcasting activities. Broadcasters are already working to edit or make non-exposure adjustments to recorded footage as much as possible.
After the controversy, Park Na-rae released her final statement via video, saying, "The matters currently raised are being legally verified for factual accuracy, and I will not make additional public remarks during that process."
Park Na-rae, who at one time was a trendsetter in variety shows, has faced complete expulsion from the broadcast industry following the illegal medical controversy.
