Actor Song Sae-byeok revealed 13 years of updates he spent on Jeju Island.
On the 17th, a video titled "A Jeju route tourists absolutely don't know! A day trip to Jeju with close younger brother Song Sae-byeok following Kim Jung-nan" was posted on Kim Jung-nan's YouTube channel "Kim Jung-nan."
In the released video, Kim Jung-nan boarded an early-morning flight to Jeju and laughed, "I'm going to see a close younger brother on a day trip. He isn't the type to appear on camera, so I'm going."
The two first worked together in the 2011 film "Dangerous Meeting" and have maintained their friendship for more than 10 years. Song Sae-byeok said, "It's already been 13 years since I moved to Jeju. Now it just feels like home," introducing his deeply rooted life on Jeju.
He also shared updates about raising his daughter. He said, "She's in adolescence these days, so I put up a note that says 'knock please.' Her answers are only 'yeah' or 'no,'" expressing a father's realistic worries. When the topic of attending school in Seoul came up, he candidly said, "She says she likes it here. But everyone says they feel stifled by high school, so I'm thinking about whether I should find even a small place in Seoul."
Song Sae-byeok's house is surrounded by mountains and nature, he said. "It's at 350 meters elevation, so the air is good. I wake up to birdsong and sunlight," he explained. He added, "Deer often come into the yard. At first they ran away, but now they glare at us. They're almost like deer we keep in the yard," sharing the "real reality" of life on Jeju and drawing laughter.
He especially revealed an anecdote about the couple Lee Hyori·Lee Sang-soon, who used to live on Jeju. Song Sae-byeok said, "They lived nearby so I saw them often, but after they moved I haven't seen them in a long time."
He continued, "Hyori said it was her birthday and asked me over saying she'd make seaweed soup, and it was so delicious. I asked, 'It tastes like a mother's cooking — did you make it?' and she said, 'I did.' But Lee Sang-soon beside her said, 'Yes, the wife made it.' It turned out it was from the banchan shop 'Ureong Gakssi,'" he said, prompting laughter.
