With the active role of Seonjae, a monk appearing on the Netflix variety show 'Culinary Class Wars: Culinary Class Wars 2' (hereinafter 'Culinary Class Wars 2'), the fact that his nephew is BTOB member Lee Chang-seop is once again drawing attention.
On the 16th, when 'Culinary Class Wars 2' was first released, many of South Korea's representative star chefs appeared, and fierce cooking battles unfolded between 'white chefs' with unrivaled skills in their respective fields and 'black chefs,' masters from outside the mainstream.
In particular, the lineup of white chefs this season included Seonjae, the nation's first master of temple cuisine, drawing attention. On the show, Seonjae left a strong impression at once as judges praised his cooking, which showed unadorned hand movements and deep inner skill.
As Seonjae's presence stood out, the fact that he had previously revealed his nephew is BTOB's Lee Chang-seop is being reexamined. That connection was first revealed on MBC variety show 'All the World's Broadcasts' (hereinafter 'All the World's Broadcasts'), which aired on Aug. 5, 2017.
At the time, 'All the World's Broadcasts' depicted the cast going on a 2 Days & 1 Night practice with monks in collaboration with Buddhist TV program 'All Things in the World.' The members held a temple cooking contest wagering 108 prostrations as the second luck-based mission, and in the process Seonjae appeared as a judge and cooking instructor.
Seonjae tasted each of the members' dishes and delivered a cold but sincere evaluation. When it was Henry's turn, Henry, with his characteristic aegyo, fed Seonjae directly, drawing laughter. Seonjae asked Henry's name and jokingly said, "Were you a child who caused a commotion among people?" and Henry, embarrassed, burst into laughter.
Afterward, Seonjae surprised the cast by saying, "My nephew is a singer, too." When it was revealed that the nephew was BTOB's Lee Chang-seop, the members admired the unexpected connection. In fact, the resemblance between Seonjae and Lee Chang-seop's faces also drew attention.
Meanwhile, Seonjae's deep culinary world and human charm showcased on 'Culinary Class Wars 2' left a strong impression on viewers, bringing renewed attention to his past TV appearances and family history.<
