Some of the music video for singer-producer ZICO's new song has been revealed.
ZICO released the music video teaser for his new single "DUET" on the HYBE Labels YouTube channel at 10 p.m. on the 17th. Lilas (Ikura of YOASOBI), a famous Japanese musician who worked on the new song, appears in person and performs alongside ZICO. The music video was filmed in Japan to capture an exotic atmosphere.
In the video, ZICO is running frantically as if being chased by someone. He is startled when he encounters a figure inside a shop where he barely hid, repeating a mysterious arm motion. This movement was also captured in previously released concept photos, arousing curiosity. In the following scenes, ZICO and Lilas pose amid various people. The two stood out even among a crowd with different genders, ages and clothing, creating a strange sense of otherness. The contrasting visuals of free-spirited ZICO and neat Lilas also draw attention.
The upbeat melody of "DUET" inserted in the teaser grabs the ear. The bright-sounding accompaniment, lyrics mixing Korean and Japanese, and the differing voices of ZICO and Lilas combine to create a fresh feel. The song's composers and lyricists include the production team that worked together on "SPOT! (feat. JENNIE)" last year. Lilas also wrote the Japanese lyrics herself, adding her own character.
"DUET," which will be released at 12 a.m. on the 19th, started from the imagination of "what if you duetted with an ideal partner?" On the surface, it is a song that highlights the harmony of two people with completely opposite tones and different artistic styles. Interest centers on the synergy that ZICO, who represents Korean hip-hop, will show with Lilas, who is emblematic of Japanese band music.
ZICO is scheduled to release a behind-the-scenes video of his work on the new song via his official social media at noon on the 18th. He will then release the single and music video at 12 a.m. on the 19th and will premiere the "DUET" stage at The 17th Melon Music Awards, MMA2025, held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 20th.
