Singer and TV personality Shin Jeong-hwan revealed plans to launch a new web variety show, and a reunion with Country Kkokko member Tak Jae-hoon after eight years was announced but postponed due to a schedule change, drawing attention once again. Although a broadcast cancellation variable arose, expectations remain because it was a "date change," not an "upload cancellation."
Shin Jeong-hwan spoke candidly about the long-attached label of "comeback" in a phone call with OSEN on the 3rd. He said, "Project S: Devil's talent donation in 2017 was effectively my comeback work, but I still hear people say, 'Are you coming back again?'" and added, "It has been seven years since I returned. It's just that there haven't been programs that suited me since then."
He added, "I've been steadily active, including on YouTube," and emphasized, "It's not that I'm making another comeback; I've been continuously working."
In particular, Shin Jeong-hwan said he plans to formally launch a new web variety show centered on his YouTube channel beginning in December, attracting attention. He explained, "I'll start producing content on my personal channel 'Gyang Shin Jeong-hwan,'" and said, "It's not a talk show format like Tak Jae-hoon hyung; it's a format in which we create new characters together with rookie celebrities and YouTubers."
He raised expectations by saying, "Production is 100% confirmed, and I'm working with a good production team. The detailed structure is still being revised, but there will be a format and set that only I can do." Regarding his recent status, he said, "It's the busiest time in 15 years," adding that offers for broadcasting and business are coming in simultaneously.
Meanwhile, on the 9th it was reported that Country Kkokko members Shin Jeong-hwan and Tak Jae-hoon would reunite after about eight years on the YouTube channel "Noppakku Tak Jae-hoon," generating buzz. Tak Jae-hoon's side told OSEN, "Shin Jeong-hwan will appear as a guest on 'Noppakku Tak Jae-hoon,'" and added, "They have already gathered for additional filming."
The two were hugely loved in the past as Country Kkokko, but after Shin Jeong-hwan's overseas gambling controversy in 2010, it was rare to see them together. They collaborated once through Project S in 2017, but it took a long time for a two-shot to be arranged again. Thus, the news of his appearance on 'Noppakku Tak Jae-hoon' drew strong expectations from fans.
However, the upload scheduled for the 17th was suddenly postponed amid expectations. The 'Noppakku Tak Jae-hoon' production team said in an official notice on the 17th, "The Shin Jeong-hwan episode's upload date has changed due to adjustments in advertising schedules," and added, "We will announce the exact schedule later." Accordingly, the episode was not broadcast that day, and on the 24th the episode featuring actress Yoon Sohui is scheduled to be released.
Because the production team clearly stated it was an "upload date change" rather than a "cancellation," expectations remain that the Shin Jeong-hwan–Tak Jae-hoon reunion itself has not been scrapped. Online reactions included, "It's a relief it's a postponement, not a cancellation," "We can wait no matter when it goes up," and "A two-shot after eight years is worth waiting for."
Linked to Shin Jeong-hwan's announced launch of a new web variety show, the reunion through 'Noppakku Tak Jae-hoon' is also expected to be an important opportunity to gauge the direction of his future activities. Although the schedule was delayed, attention is focused on Shin Jeong-hwan's moves as he begins to move again after a long hiatus.
