'If We' Moon Ga-young expressed great satisfaction with her chemistry with Koo Kyo-hwan.
On the afternoon of the 18th at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul, a press screening for the film 'If We' was held. Lead actors Koo Kyo-hwan, Moon Ga-young, director Kim Do-young and others attended.
The film 'If We' (director Kim Do-young, distributed by SHOWBOX, presented by KC Ventures·K-Wave Media, produced by Covenant Pictures) is a realistic romantic story in which Eun-ho and Jeong-won, who once loved each other passionately, accidentally reunite after 10 years and unfold the traces of their memories. It is a remake of the original Chinese film 'Us in the Future' (2018) adapted to Korean sensibilities.
Director Kim Do-young, who drew attention for his delicate emotional direction with 'Kim Ji-young, Born 1982' (2019), returns with a new work that raises expectations with the dense acting chemistry and poignant chemistry of the two actors Koo Kyo-hwan and Moon Ga-young. It realistically captures the brilliant moments of their youth in their 20s and the emotional changes of the two people who meet again 10 years later.
Koo Kyo-hwan delivered an intense performance as Eun-ho, who, after failing the college entrance exam three times and enrolling in a computer engineering program, meets his first love Jeong-won. From the thrill of first love that everyone experiences to the regret that follows a breakup, he is expected to broaden audience empathy by expressing complex emotions in a detailed and realistic way. He returns with the most profound love story of his career.
Koo Kyo-hwan said, "I have been a big fan of Moon Ga-young for a long time, and what surprised me while working together was that she plans her scenes well while also being very improvisational and emotional. I was surprised that she is half technique and half emotion." He praised her acting, saying, "In the bus scene when Ga-young shed tears, the staff who were there said they should view it from T's perspective, but she shed tears and kept the focus." He added jokingly, "There are even stories that I wasn't on set but cried at home," drawing laughter.
Moon Ga-young played Jeong-won, who grows from a college student who keeps moving forward step by step without giving up her dreams despite the hardships of living in Seoul to a mature career woman after a breakup. She takes on her first melodrama film since her debut.
She said, "Senior Koo Kyo-hwan is an actor every actor wants to work with and has many fans. It's an honor to be with him, and I wanted to work with him. He's like a genius senior," and expressed satisfaction, saying, "After filming was all done, I don't know if oppa will remember, but I learned so much from watching you that I will use what I learned well."
