"Culinary Class Wars2" Kim Eun-ji PD mentioned concerns she had when recruiting white-spoon chef Seonjae monk, Hudeokjuk and others.
On the morning of the 17th, a press conference for the Netflix variety show 'Culinary Class Wars: culinary class wars 2' was held at the Grand Ballroom on the LL floor of JW Marriott Dongdaemun in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Present were PD Kim Hak-min, PD Kim Eun-ji, as well as white-spoon Seonjae monk·Hudeokjuk·Son Jong-won·Jung Ho-young, black-spoon French papa·Chinese cuisine witch·brewmaster Yoon Ju-mo·baby beast and others attended.
'Culinary Class Wars: culinary class wars 2' depicts a fiery cooking class war between underground masters, the 'black-spoon' chefs who try to overturn class by taste alone, and the country's top star white-spoon chefs who try to protect it. Following the first installment released last September, season 2 was released after one year, and at the time season 1 caused a gourmet craze in Korea, positively influencing the revival of the stalled fine-dining industry. In addition, judge Paik Jong-won and Anh Sung-jae's critiques became catchphrases, and the chefs gained popularity rivaling entertainers and received great love.
PD Kim Hak-min said, "I'm glad we survived and are able to present a second season," and "There were many concerns, and because season 1 received so much love it felt weighty. We had internal meetings and worried about how to prepare part 2. We discussed it with the production team and Netflix, and the starting point was a feeling that change for the sake of change could be poisonous to the program," and added, "Because season 1 was greatly loved, we decided to keep and improve the elements that were loved and replace the regrettable parts with new things. We focused on making a complete program. That was the main motif we set."
PD Kim Eun-ji said, "I think season 1 gave courage to us and to everyone. Many chefs who had declined season 1 volunteered to apply. We were surprised that so many chefs applied and even identified themselves as black-spoon, and that surprised us. That gave the production team courage," she said.
She continued, "In fact, we could not dare make offers to Seonjae monk and Chef Hudeok-jun in season 1. We feared it would be a rude proposal, so we didn't, but this time, even if they had declined, we had the courage to ask. But they readily accepted, which surprised us. When the 100-person lineup was completed, I wanted to boast about it quickly. The production team also waited more than nine months. I'm glad we can now show it off," she said with a laugh.
Meanwhile, 'Culinary Class Wars: culinary class wars 2' was first released on Netflix on the 16th.
