The Korea Entertainment Management Association has urged investigative agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into broadcaster Park Na-rae, who has recently been embroiled in various controversies.
The Korea Entertainment Management Association (hereinafter Yoonmaehyeop) said in an official statement on the 17th, The association officially states that it will firmly deal with the issues revealed by the recent controversy involving popular culture artist Park Na-rae.
Yoonmaehyeop said, The sanctions committee, a special body of Yoonmaehyeop, judged that Park Na-rae's actions in relation to this incident were a serious matter that damaged the wholesome customs and order of the popular culture and arts industry and hindered industry development, and expressed deep concern and regret about the confusion and great repercussions caused across the entertainment industry.
In particular, regarding suspicions that Park Na-rae's side was not registered for popular culture and arts planning business and the controversy over managers not being enrolled in the four major social insurance programs, Yoonmaehyeop emphasized, We urge investigative agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and impose appropriate punishment, and we strongly demand that Park Na-rae's side officially explain and actively cooperate with the investigation.
It added, The circumstances as to why managers were not enrolled in the four major social insurance programs must be clearly revealed, and if there was an act of evading the common-sense and normal duty of employment contracts, corresponding measures must inevitably follow.
Yoonmaehyeop also took a strong stance regarding reports of alleged 'gapjil' bullying by Park Na-rae toward her former managers. Yoonmaehyeop said, If the reports are true, Park Na-rae needs to provide a clear explanation of the facts and an official apology, and pointed out that although entertainers and managers are equal partners, so-called 'gapjil,' in which an entertainer forces a manager to perform tasks unrelated to entertainment activities, is a chronic malpractice in the industry that must be eradicated.
In addition, Yoonmaehyeop mentioned the 'injection aunt' controversy, allegations of unpaid event fees, and the allegation that company funds were paid to a former boyfriend, saying, Entertainers who perform with the public's interest and love should bear greater responsibility as public figures. It added that continuing entertainment activities without sufficient explanation and responsible self-restraint over issues that have caused social controversy should be refrained from.
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae's side has denied the former managers' claims in full and on the 6th countersued them for extortion. The agency rebutted, After receiving severance pay, they demanded an amount equivalent to 10% of the company's previous year's sales, and the allegation of paying a salary to a former boyfriend is also an inflated falsehood and they are pressuring with ridiculous claims.
