Two main vocalists of the group SEVENTEEN, Dokyeom and Seungkwan, have formed a new unit and will release the mini album 1 'Soyagok' on Jan. 12 next year.
Dokyeom X Seungkwan released the trailer 'An Ordinary Love' for 'Soyagok' at 12 a.m. on the 17th through HYBE Labels' official YouTube channel, raising global fans' anticipation for the new record.
The story contains lovers standing on different trajectories. After showing Dokyeom unable to hang up a phone that receives no answer, the time of him and his partner is portrayed as if placed in different worlds even within the same space. Objects placed throughout, such as withered plants and dried fruit, seem to show their relationship. Dokyeom's monotonous daily life gains a new tension through a chance encounter.
Seungkwan appears as a part-timer. He is a figure who, seeing a comic book a customer brought, recalls scenes of a past love. His brief immersion in the modest but warm memory is cut short when, hastening to return the book, he accidentally drops a volume. Seungkwan hurriedly following the customer was intercut with the comic book title "Blue," making listeners curious about the album story.
The album title 'Soyagok' means 'a love song sung at night (serenade).' Dokyeom X Seungkwan used their own emotional storytelling to portray every process between meeting and parting, completing a winter-sentiment-filled record. The new release is expected to capture various moments within the most ordinary love—from boredom and mismatches to new beginnings—eliciting deep empathy and emotional immersion from anyone.
Dokyeom X Seungkwan have been recognized for their outstanding vocal skills through group SEVENTEEN albums as well as solo songs and OSTs. Their harmony, combining delicate technique, rich vocal power and deep expressiveness with differing attractive tones, is expected to herald the revival of the "K-pop traditional vocal duo."
