The film Avatar: The Fire and the Fury finally opens worldwide today (17th, Wednesday), boasting an overwhelming pre-sale figure nearing 600,000 tickets as of 7 a.m. this morning, and a character poster showcasing the protagonists who will heat up the climax of the Avatar series has been released, drawing attention
The film Avatar: The Fire and the Fury is finally available today at theaters nationwide. Anticipation for the film began 10 days before its release. On Dec. 7 (Sunday), Avatar: The Fire and the Fury rose to the top spot in overall advance ticket sales three days after tickets opened, thanks to strong interest from prospective viewers. Then on Dec. 12 (Friday), five days before release, it recorded advance ticket sales equal to those of the previous installment Avatar: The Way of Water, which drew 10 million viewers, signaling an extraordinary pre-release phenomenon.
Avatar: The Fire and the Fury, which opens today, surpassed a 76.2% advance ticket rate and 590,000 advance tickets as of 7 a.m. on the 17th (Wednesday), drawing attention to box office indicators for its opening week.
The nine character posters released to commemorate the opening capture a variety of figures, from newly introduced characters to the leading figures who have driven the Avatar series and the children of the Sully family, who will lead the next generation, catching the eye.
First, the character poster featuring the overwhelming presence of the ash clan leader Barang (Una Chaplin) heightens tension simply by looking at it. The phrase "Eywa did not answer" and the gaze that seems ready to devour everything make it clear that Pandora faces its greatest crisis. Facing that head-on, Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) declares "All I have left is faith," revealing her fierce demeanor as the Na'vi's great warrior and adding a special intensity.
Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), who rushes in to protect his family even amid raging flames, declares his resolve to enter a massive battle with the steadfast line "This family is our fortress," while his long-time nemesis Col. Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) delivers a warning that teases an unprecedented counterattack, saying "You want to spread your flames across the world," raising curiosity about how the tangled relationships among them will end.
The more grown-up appearances of the children compared with Avatar: The Way of Water also draw attention. Kiri (Sigourney Weaver), who will finally unleash her mysterious power, declaring, "I call upon the warrior mother," and Lo'ak (Britain Dalton), who proclaims "We have to fight!" and, hardened, fights desperately to protect his family, make audiences eager to see what roles they will play.
Spider (Jack Champion), who acts as another variable in this work and heightens the drama's tension, states his unbending resolve amid crisis with "What matters is the size of your fighting spirit," while Tsuireya (Bailey Bass), of the Metkayina clan, who encourages and embraces everyone with "There is greatness within you," and Tuk'tiri (Trinity Bliss), who becomes the strength for the entire Sully family, declare "The Sully family does not give up," making audiences look forward to what vitality the five children will bring to the film. After the advance screening held before release, explosive reactions and viewing recommendations poured in, including "Rather than watching a movie, it felt closer to briefly visiting another world" (ExtremeMovie_Eh***), "The greatest blockbuster of our time" (MUKO_M***), "Everything one could want from Avatar is here" (MUKO_Gu*), "My elevated heart rate won't come down! Beyond expectations!" (MUKO_everg****), "A mad masterpiece. A page of legend" (CGV_KimJi*****), and "A film you must see in theaters" (Naver Blog_BIGM****). Avatar: The Fire and the Fury, the third installment of the Avatar series, depicts an even greater crisis unfolding on a Pandora covered in fire and ash when the ash clan led by Barang appears before the Sully family, who are grieving the death of Jake and Neytiri's eldest son Neteiyam, and follows the story of the series that drew 13.62 million viewers domestically and achieved worldwide box office success.
