Director Jang Jae-hyun of the film Exhuma denied reports that actor Yoo Ah-in will appear in his upcoming project.
Director Jang Jae-hyun told OSEN on the morning of the 17th in a currency that "it is true that I am preparing a new work tentatively titled 'Vampir.' However, it is completely untrue that actor Yoo Ah-in will appear."
He said, "At the outset, the scenario itself has not come out. We have not formally approached any actor. It is true that I recently asked how he has been doing. We shared some future schedule, but a completely different story seems to have spread. (Yoo Ah-in) said he wanted to spend about a year quietly without a schedule," he said.
In particular, director Jang Jae-hyun said of the new work 'Vampir,' "the scenario is neither completed nor out. Only a synopsis has come out, the production company has not been decided, and we are still talking. I am cautious because I do not know how it will change. Personally, I hope the work period will extend through the year after next," he added.
Director Jang Jae-hyun is a filmmaker who earlier won both critical praise and box office success with his distinctive occult works such as 'The Priests,' 'Svaha,' and Exhuma. In particular, Exhuma received intense love after surpassing 10 million viewers. He revealed news of working on the new project 'Vampir' in an interview earlier this year. Vampir is known as a vampire story inspired by Dracula and set against the backdrop of the Russian Eastern Orthodox Church.
Meanwhile, on the morning of the same day news surfaced that Yoo Ah-in would appear in Vampir. If his appearance were confirmed, it drew attention as his decision on a next project three years after facing trial on drug charges in 2022. However, Yoo Ah-in's side told OSEN in an official statement that "nothing has been decided."
