IPQ said the prosecution officially announced the case involving Omega X member Hwichean was closed after prosecutors issued a nonindictment decision of "no charges (insufficient evidence)."
According to IPQ, on Mar. 19, 2024, Omega X's former agency, Spire Entertainment, held a press conference and filed a criminal complaint accusing Hwichean of sexual assault.
At the time, Spire presented CCTV footage as evidence, but the released footage was only an edited excerpt and the full original footage was never disclosed.
IPQ and Hwichean repeatedly requested submission and verification of the full original CCTV footage through investigative authorities from the early stages of the case.
However, IPQ said the original CCTV footage was never submitted or verified even once during the police investigation and all investigative procedures.
After about 1 year and 10 months of investigation, prosecutors on Dec. 11, 2025, decided not to indict Hwichean, citing a lack of objective and reliable evidence to prove the charges.
The decision clearly indicates that the alleged charges do not legally hold.
IPQ said Hwichean suffered severe social stigma and mental distress for an extended period due to allegations that were not true, and the harm extended to former Omega X members and their families.
Nonetheless, regarding a former Spire Entertainment executive signaling additional legal steps such as filing an objection after the nonindictment decision, IPQ expressed deep regret, calling it a repeated problem of raising an issue that has already been closed by investigative authorities and inflicting further pain on the artist and the entire group.
IPQ said, "We make clear that Hwichean did not commit any criminal act," and added, "We hope distorted claims and malicious allegations will not be repeated."
IPQ added it plans to review and resolutely pursue all legal measures necessary to protect the reputation and rights of its artists going forward.
Finally, IPQ urged the media and the public to base their judgments on investigative results and objective facts, warning that unverified claims, speculative reporting and spreading false information could cause further harm.
