'Culinary Class Wars: Culinary Class Wars 2' depicts a fiery culinary class war between the underground masters 'black spoon' chefs who try to overturn class by taste alone and the country's top star chefs 'white spoon' who try to protect it. Following episode 1 released last September, season 2 was released a year later, and at that time season 1 sparked a gourmet syndrome in Korea, having positive effects such as reviving the faltering fine-dining industry. In addition, judges Paik Jong-won and Anh Sung-jae's critiques became catchphrases, and the chefs gained popularity rivaling entertainers and received great love.
An unparalleled figure in temple cuisine, Sunjae monk said, "Honestly, I thought, 'me, even to Culinary Class Wars..?' and after much thought I granted appearance. At Culinary Class Wars I met 99 practitioners (excluding me). I also met hundreds of unseen practitioners," adding, "Just as I met many practitioners through 'Culinary Class Wars', I hope you also, through 'Culinary Class Wars', see how those people think about food and how much effort they make."
He continued, "We all eat to live. Because life is given depending on what kind of food those people make, I participated with that feeling," and said, "Whoever competes with me, I wanted to respect them and respect their skills. Whoever joins, I competed with that mindset."
MC Park Kyung-rim asked, "With what mindset did you approach it?" and Sunjae monk replied, "I thought it would be good if everyone gathered there takes pride in their food and makes food for many people's happiness. How precious each person is. I hope everything goes well for all of them." Park Kyung-rim praised the answer of a different depth, saying, "My question feels infinitely trivial right now."
