Anh Sung-jae was the same as ever.
On the 16th, the Netflix variety show 'Culinary Class Wars: cooking class wars 2' was released, and as in the previous season, Paik Jong-won and Anh Sung-jae served as judges.
Among them, the figure that drew attention was, as always, Anh Sung-jae. Invited last season with the moniker "the country's only Michelin three-star," Anh Sung-jae continued judging with his own standards such as "EVNNE(even)ly" and "degree of doneness," revealing a strict but undeniably skilled judging ability.
When the black-spoon chefs saw Anh Sung-jae appear, they visibly flinched. His arrival and gaze alone made for tense moments, but Anh Sung-jae alternated between praise and criticism, making contestants cry and laugh.
The judging that continued from episodes 1 through 3 was more demanding than season 1. After tasting the apple dish of a culinary scientist who introduced molecular gastronomy to Korea for the first time, Anh Sung-jae, with an expressionless face, evaluated, "Old techniques make me think of dishes from 20 years ago. Raw apples are tastier," and after tasting the noodle dish of chef Kim Do-yoon, who re-challenged as the 'hidden white spoon' following last season, he said, "A dullness remains. It wasn't a delicious noodle to my taste," and boldly eliminated him.
However, he did not spare high praise for chefs who satisfied his palate. After tasting the dish of 'Yoon Ju-mo who brews alcohol,' who boldly attempted to distill soju, Anh Sung-jae said, "(The soju) still has a makgeolli fruit aroma. I think the most delicious bar snacks eaten with alcohol have more to do with that hand taste than the menu. With a special hand taste, even a single side dish can become a snack, and that hand taste makes for very delicious food," and announced their passing.
As soon as Yoon Ju-mo received the notice of passing, he slumped into his seat and showed tears. At the production presentation held on the 17th, he also expressed his respect for Anh Sung-jae, saying, "I didn't expect anything, so surviving was moving. I was so nervous that Chef Anh Sung-jae was a judge."
Although an impressive lineup of contestants appeared in season 2, Anh Sung-jae did not change in the face of that fame. Although the Michelin three stars he had were lost during the process of reopening 'Mosoo,' his reputation and standards remained. Regardless of public preference, Culinary Class Wars has its own standards, and Paik Jong-won, who returned to judging from season 1, also strictly adhered to those standards in this 'Culinary Class Wars 2.'
Because of this, attention is focused on the stories 'Culinary Class Wars 2' will unfold. Following 'Napoli Mafia,' who will be this season's winner, and with what judging comments Anh Sung-jae will again make viewers cry and laugh are eagerly anticipated.
