SHINee member Key has suspended activities and will also not attend the 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards, where he was scheduled to serve as an MC.
On the 17th, a representative of the 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards told OSEN, "Following Key's expression of his intention to suspend activities, the production team respected his wishes and made a final decision to proceed with this awards ceremony with a two-MC format of Jun Hyun-moo and Jang Doyoun," the organization said in an official statement.
Key of SHINee was earlier mentioned in connection with the 'injection aunt' controversy triggered by comedian Park Narae. Park Narae is currently embroiled in disputes after being accused by former managers of power harassment and illegal medical practices and of not registering a one-person agency, among other allegations, and she countersued on extortion charges. In this context, it was later highlighted that the person surnamed Lee, known as the "injection aunt" who performed illegal medical procedures on Park Narae, boasted of a long-standing friendship with Key.
However, agency SM Entertainment said Key first met Lee at a hospital in Gangnam District, Seoul, where Lee worked, after being recommended by an acquaintance. Since then, he had received treatment at that hospital, and when visiting the hospital was difficult he received treatment at home several times, but he only recently realized for the first time that Lee was not a doctor.
SM Entertainment emphasized that Key is also very confused and is reflecting on his own ignorance, and said in an official statement, "Recognizing the seriousness of this matter, he has decided to withdraw from scheduled events and programs in which he was appearing."
Lee, known as Park Narae's "injection aunt," initially portrayed herself on personal social media as having graduated from the Inner Mongolia Pogan Medical University in China, among other claims, to give the appearance of being a medical professional. However, after medical organizations checked, that school was found to be a nonexistent "ghost medical school," and Lee was revealed to have no medical license in Korea and was reported to the Korean Medical Association Organization and others on charges of illegal medical practice.
