Comedian Park Na-rae has been embroiled in various allegations and is continuing legal battles after former managers' revelations of power abuse, and claims have been raised that the starting point of this incident was the "5.5 billion won Itaewon home theft."
On the 15th, the YouTube channel "Entertainment president Lee Jin-ho" released a video titled "Shocking exclusive! They said the managers were like family… the truth about Park Na-rae's 5.5 billion won home theft."
According to the report, the starting point of the current situation was the managers' lack of enrollment in the four major insurance programs. After ending her contract with JDB Entertainment, where she had been for nine years, Park Na-rae moved to a one-person agency, "M Park," registered with her mother as the representative. In that process, she hired the existing manager S and a new on-site manager, but both managers claimed they were paid as 3.3% freelancers without employment contracts.
The managers said, "Park Na-rae's mother and her then-boyfriend (now ex-boyfriend) were registered as company executives and were enrolled in the four major insurance programs," and specifically "the boyfriend received about 4 million won per month as salary," they revealed. Lee Jin-ho analyzed, "Because it was an establishment with fewer than five employees, legal punishment is ambiguous, but the key issue became the failure to keep the promise to convert them to regular employees."
The incident that became the spark was Park Na-rae's Itaewon home theft in April of this year involving roughly 5.5 billion won. At the time, high-value items such as jewelry worth tens of millions of won were stolen, and reports suggesting an 'insider was responsible' intensified the controversy.
Lee Jin-ho said, "The only people who were coming and going to the house at the time were two managers and one stylist," and "none of them had employment contracts or were enrolled in the four major insurance programs. If any of them had been identified as the perpetrator, the fact that 'an uncontracted employee entered Park Na-rae's home' would have been revealed, which could have caused serious damage."
He added, "Park Na-rae's then-boyfriend A provided the managers' personal information such as names, resident registration numbers and addresses to the police as reference material, saying it was necessary to prepare employment contracts," he reported. Manager S said, "When I contacted the lead investigator, I was shocked to hear, 'You are also on the list of suspects.'"
Lee Jin-ho said, "It appears the managers felt a great sense of betrayal in that the personal information they handed over believing it was 'for employment contracts' was used to suspect them."
However, the actual perpetrator of the theft was found to be a person entirely unrelated to Park Na-rae. Nevertheless, it is reported that the managers' employment contracts and four major insurance issues were not resolved until September, and analysts say distrust escalated to an extreme during that process.
Lee Jin-ho also said, "The amount the managers demanded is estimated to be about 400 to 500 million won, roughly 10% of the company's sales," and "If it had been resolved amicably at the start, it might have been an 'insurance premium' level that could have preserved her broadcasting activities. But by choosing a hard-line response, the situation became too large."
The managers countered, "We had no intention of media play or exposure battles. But because Park Na-rae's side labeled it 'false claims' and framed it as 'embezzlement,' we were forced to disclose the materials."
