A fierce culinary class war unfolds between underground masters known as the 'black spoons' who seek to overturn the hierarchy with nothing but taste and South Korea's top star chefs known as the 'white spoons' who defend it, and Culinary Class Wars returns today (16) with a more powerful showdown of "taste".
Culinary Class Wars became the first Korean Netflix variety show to rank No. 1 in the Netflix global top 10 TV non-English category for three consecutive weeks. It sparked a Korean and global craze after ranking first in Gallup Korea's 2024 survey of "programs Koreans like" — the first OTT variety show to do so. Culinary Class Wars 2, which drew intense interest even before the new season was released, returns with an even more powerful face-off between black chefs and white chefs.
First, the two highly anticipated hidden white spoons will be unveiled. Previously, Culinary Class Wars 2 created a huge stir by revealing the two hidden white spoons with their faces covered. In the much-anticipated episodes 1-3, the first reveal includes Michelin two-star Lee Joon, Son Jong-won and others who each earned one Michelin star for Korean and Western cuisine respectively, temple food master Seonjae, 57-year Chinese cuisine master Hu Deok-juk, 47-year French cuisine master Park Hyo-nam, South Korea's representative star chefs Jung Ho-young, Sam Kim and Raymond Kim, MasterChef Korea season 4 judge Song Hoon, Hansik Daecheop season 3 winner Lim Seong-geun, and 18 white chefs in total. Then two hidden black spoons who will add to the fun of season 1 will be revealed as a surprise, shaking up the cooking competition. In particular, the unexpected rule that was veiled is expected to be revealed and surprise everyone.
The black chefs who have sharpened their knives predict an intense culinary class war. Following the departure of black chefs who would have been white spoon level in season 1, black chefs with expertise across diverse genres — from pyeongnaeng newcomers to long-line tonkatsu, fan masters, tteokbokki masters, hand-pulled noodle kings, and five-star kimchi masters — will compete fiercely.
The shocking twist that will overturn the competition will be revealed, and episodes 1-3 of Culinary Class Wars 2 will meet viewers around the world exclusively on Netflix today (16) at 5 p.m.
