The short-form drama Goodbye, My Brothers' success story-making short-form drama production company NewUniverse has once again created a new hit.
Short-form drama specialist NewUniverse (CEO Jeong Ho-young) launched Never Come Back (Korean title: 뺏긴 오빠들) on Dramabox on the 10th, and it rose to No. 1 on the new releases chart immediately after its release.
NewUniverse's new release Never Come Back is a regret romance about an orphan Nam Yu-jin, who impulsively marries Ha Ji-hoon of the Ha-won Group after leaving the Nam-jin Group brothers she loved most, in a story of putting duty before personal desire.
Following the 'regret trend' that revived the stagnant Korean short-form drama market with Goodbye, My Brothers, Never Come Back has received intense interest immediately after its release. This has drawn considerable attention to the NewUniverse-style short drama trend.
NewUniverse is the first domestic production company to stand out in the global short-form drama market, which had been dominated by Chinese and U.S. producers, with K-short-form dramas. In particular, this year it opened Goodbye, My Brothers, This Life as the youngest daughter-in-law of a chaebol family, After I Left, and Never Come Back on global platforms Dramawave, Goodshort and Dramabox, achieving results.
Riding the momentum, NewUniverse plans to release I'm so hot (Korean title: 암쏘핫) and Twenty: Love shuffle (Korean title: 트웬티:첫사랑 체인지) on the global No. 1 platform Reelshort at the end of the year. The two works will combine strengths of existing Chinese short-form dramas with Korean-style romantic variety elements and feature original stories developed by NewUniverse to pique viewers' interest.
The growth of NewUniverse, which is showing outstanding results in the global video streaming market with K-short-form dramas, is expected.<
