Entertainer Park Na-rae issued an official statement on several recent allegations, including abuse of power against staff and illegal medical practices.
On the 16th, a video titled "Don't want anyone hurt or unnecessary controversy" was posted on the YouTube channel "Baek Eun-young's Golden Time." Appearing in the video, Park Na-rae bowed her head and apologized, saying, "I take heavily the fact that the issues recently raised have caused worry and fatigue to many people."
She went on, "I chose to step down voluntarily from all the programs I was doing, hoping no further confusion or burden would fall on the production crews and colleagues," and added, "There are parts of the facts regarding the current issues that need to be calmly verified, so legal procedures are under way."
She continued, "I will not make any additional public remarks or explanations during that process," explaining, "I judge that this is not a matter of personal feelings or relationships, but an issue that must be objectively verified through official procedures."
Park Na-rae said, "This choice is not to blame someone or assign responsibility, but a decision to set aside emotions and personal judgment and leave it to the procedures to sort out," adding, "Countless stories are circulating now, but it is not my wish for someone else to be hurt or for this to escalate into unnecessary controversy."
Lastly, Park Na-rae signaled she would cease official comments, saying, "For the time being, I intend to stop all activities and take time to focus on resolving this matter," and, "I am grateful to the many people who have supported me, and to avoid creating further controversy, I will refrain from related remarks after this video."
Recently, Park Na-rae became embroiled in allegations that she abused power against former managers. The former managers filed complaints accusing Park Na-rae of aggravated assault causing injury, proxy prescriptions, and unpaid operating expenses, and Park Na-rae's side then countersued them on charges of blackmail, setting off a legal battle.
Park Na-rae also faces allegations that she received sleeping pills and other drugs from A, known as the "injection aunt." Park Na-rae's side initially said, "There were no illegal medical practices," but the controversy grew after organizations including the Korean Medical Association Organization raised questions about whether A holds a domestic medical license.
