Comedian Park Narae, who has been swept up in successive controversies from allegations of power harassment of former managers to allegations of illegal medical practices, broke her silence and appeared eight days after announcing a suspension of activities. However, at the center of numerous controversies, Park Narae chose once again to remain silent rather than apologize or explain.
In a video released on the YouTube channel "Baek Eun-young's Golden Time" on the 16th, Park Narae opened by saying, "I take seriously that the recent issues raised have caused worry and fatigue to many people." This was the first time Park Narae expressed an official position since she announced a suspension of activities on social media eight days earlier.
She explained the reason for stepping down, saying, "I voluntarily withdrew from all the programs I was doing because of these issues. I made that choice because I hoped my continued presence would not cause confusion or burden to the producers and colleagues."
However, she offered no explanation regarding the allegations the public was most curious about: the power harassment controversy involving a former manager, the illegal medical procedure allegations, the controversy over hiring and payroll transfers for a former romantic partner who was an employee, and the allegation that former managers were not covered by the four major insurance programs.
Park Narae said, "There are parts of the currently raised issues for which the facts need to be calmly verified, and legal procedures are underway. In that process, I will refrain from making additional public remarks or explanations. I judge that these matters should be confirmed objectively through official procedures rather than as personal emotions or relationship issues," and said she would proceed with all matters according to legal procedures.
She emphasized, "This choice is not to blame someone or to assign responsibility but a decision to set things straight by excluding emotions and personal judgment and leaving them to the procedures," and, in the name of preventing further controversy, warned of future silence by saying, "I will not offer related comments after this video to avoid creating more controversy."
However, this attitude is evaluated as far from the public's expectation for responsible explanations in a situation where allegations keep emerging. When Park Narae announced her suspension of activities, she said, "Two managers who lived like family suddenly resigned, and until recently there was no opportunity to talk with the people involved, so misunderstandings accumulated," and "I still think everything is my fault and I am deeply reflecting," but she has not provided specific explanations about what exactly went wrong.
Park Narae is currently facing five lawsuits in total, including allegations of manager power harassment and illegal medical practices, and she herself is pursuing one counterclaim. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency officially confirmed on the 15th, "There are five cases filed against Park Narae, and Park Narae's side has filed one lawsuit."
The former managers announced a tough response, warning of an application for provisional seizure of real estate worth about 100 million won and a damages lawsuit. Agency Anpark refuted, saying, "After the managers resigned, they rather demanded 10% of last year's sales," but afterward a photo of the 'injection aunt' spread and the allegations of illegal medical practices intensified. Park Narae's side said it was only a house call, but when it became known that the 'injection aunt' did not have a domestic medical license, the controversy grew uncontrollably.
Ultimately, Park Narae stepped down from all broadcasting activities, including MBC's "Save Me, Homes", "I Live Alone" and tvN's "Amazing Saturday." However, even in this video there was still no concrete explanation or apology.
The public's questions about the controversy continue, but Park Narae has effectively entered a long-term silence mode by leaving all answers to legal procedures.
