Singer-songwriter Gureum unveils her fourth full-length album "Airplane Mode".
Gureum releases her fourth full-length album "Airplane Mode" today (16th) at 6 p.m. on various online music sites. It is her first full-length album in about 1 year and 2 months since the release of her third full-length album "Sky, Hand, Balloon" in October last year.
The fourth full-length album "Airplane Mode" contains a total of nine tracks, including the triple title tracks "Lost item of winter", "A life that is lived", and "Destruction." Based on pop, folk and ballad, Gureum encompasses various genres while participating in the lyrics, composition and arrangement of all the tracks herself, solidifying not only her capabilities as a highly complete producer but also her distinctive musical world as a solo artist. In particular, Gureum captures the narrative of separation, loss and the healing that comes afterward, prompting each listener to reconsider the meaning of the farewells they have experienced.
The music video for "Lost item of winter," one of the triple title tracks, drew attention by announcing the appearance of singer and actress Jo Yuri. The connection continued after Gureum participated in the lyrics, composition and arrangement of "Time of dogs and cats," one of the double title tracks of the mini third album "Episode 25" that Jo Yuri released last July. Having expanded her acting spectrum and proven her limitless potential and possibilities as an actress, Jo Yuri will delicately convey the feeling that "for the person winter has left, it is a finished season, but for the person left behind it is a season that is only just beginning." The "Lost item of winter" music video will be released on Gureum's official YouTube channel today (16th) at 6 p.m., simultaneously with the song release.
On track 4, "I don't want to sing," singer-songwriter Jeongwoo participated as a featuring artist. Jeongwoo, whose clear voice and lyrical sensibility are charming, and Gureum's understated vocals harmonize within the warm texture characteristic of folk songs, expressing the sorrow of a being who, though struggling, wants to remain in someone's heart like a song. In addition, tracks such as "it would be alright," "no worries," and "Airplane Mode"—which contain weighty emotions and lingering aftertastes—will convey Gureum's sincere and warm message of consolation.
Gureum said, "The fourth full-length album 'Airplane Mode' contains the feelings I felt while looking at Chome, the rescued stray dog who came to be with me last year," and added, "Just as Chome, who suffered at the hands of someone, eventually came into my life, I believe every farewell in the world has its own value. I hope that through this album everyone can set down some of the wounds in their hearts and find some comfort."
Meanwhile, Gureum signed an exclusive contract with tapes, a label under Mound Media established in March. Since joining tapes, Gureum has widely shown her facets as a producer by participating in the lyrics, composition and arrangement of various artists' songs. With this fourth full-length album "Airplane Mode," she is expected to further solidify her musical identity and presence as a solo artist.
