Park Na-rae breaks her silence and expresses her position, but reactions to "legal action" are mixed
Comedian Park Na-rae broke her silence to directly state her position on various allegations, but the controversy does not seem to be subsiding easily. She repeatedly emphasized she would "leave it to legal procedures" without additional clarification, and heated debate continues among internet users.
On the 16th, Park Na-rae released a video on the YouTube channel 'Baek Eun-young's golden time' and delivered an official statement with an apology regarding recent allegations surrounding her. It was her first direct remarks about a week after announcing she would suspend activities on the 8th.
In the video, Park Na-rae said, "I take seriously that I have caused worry and fatigue to many people because of the matters recently raised," and added, "Because of this issue, I voluntarily withdrew from all programs I was appearing on. I did not want to cause further confusion or burden to the production staff and colleagues."
She went on to say, "There are many aspects of the facts that need to be verified regarding the allegations currently raised, so legal procedures are underway," and drew a line by saying, "I will not make further public remarks or explanations going forward." She emphasized, "This is not a matter of personal feelings but an issue that should be confirmed through objective procedures."
The controversy surrounding Park Na-rae began with revelations from former managers. The former managers alleged power abuse, illegal medical procedures, proxy prescriptions, and unpaid hosting fees, and announced they would file for provisional seizure of property and a lawsuit claiming damages. In addition, controversy erupted over the failure to register Andpark for planning and management of popular culture and arts. In response, Park Na-rae denied the claims, saying the former managers demanded money after resigning and that the registration issue was falsely reported by the former manager as already completed. Later, Park Na-rae countersued the former managers on charges including extortion.
However, the controversy did not stop there. The former managers claimed that Park Na-rae had falsely listed an ex-boyfriend as a company employee and paid him about 44 million won in salary, and that she transferred 300 million won of company funds as a deposit, alleging embezzlement.
There were further allegations that Park Na-rae received illegal medical procedures from the so-called "injection aunt" known to be unlicensed, and even the existence of a "IV drip aunt" was raised, escalating the fallout. Park Na-rae's side denied this as "false facts," explaining that she received a house-call treatment from a person who had a medical license.
Earlier, Park Na-rae said on social media that "I confronted the former manager and cleared up misunderstandings," announced she would withdraw from all broadcasts and suspend activities, but the former managers flatly denied this, saying, "It was an emotional appeal, not an apology or agreement." Additional complaints such as aggravated injury and defamation followed, and the fight over the truth has turned into a prolonged battle.
Meanwhile, although Park Na-rae spoke directly, internet user reactions were mixed. Some said, "It is right to refrain from further comment and settle it legally," "The longer a public dispute drags on, the more it only hurts everyone," and "Accepting a suspension of activities shows an attitude of taking responsibility," expressing understanding of Park Na-rae's decision.
On the other hand, criticism continued, saying, "There is no explanation for the core allegations," "Repeating only the phrase 'legal procedures' is unsatisfying," and "Saying misunderstandings were resolved and then responding legally is inconsistent." Many raised questions particularly about the lack of clear explanation for specific matters such as illegal medical procedures and embezzlement allegations.
In the closing of the video, Park Na-rae reiterated, "This is not a choice to blame someone or shift responsibility," and emphasized again, "It is a decision to exclude emotions and personal judgment and leave it to procedures to resolve." She also said she would stop all activities for the time being and added, "I will not make related remarks after this video to avoid creating further controversy."
