Cho Sae-ho 'alleged ties to organized crime' spreading... Past remarks by the 'man accused of fraud' he introduced to Kim Na-young receive renewed attention
Comedian Cho Sae-ho is facing various allegations spreading online, and a blind date anecdote involving Kim Na-young that was mentioned on a past broadcast is receiving renewed attention. The story is that the non-celebrity man Cho Sae-ho introduced to Kim Na-young was later arrested on fraud charges.
The anecdote dates to 2015 and was revealed on KBS 2TV's quiz entertainment program '1 vs. 100', which Kim Na-young appeared on while single. At the time, the host mentioned, "There is a story that Cho Sae-ho liked Kim Na-young but gave up and arranged a blind date for her," and Kim Na-young acknowledged it and candidly recounted the situation.
Kim Na-young recalled, "He introduced someone who said he worked in securities." She added, "We met at a hotel lounge overlooking downtown Seoul with Cho Sae-ho, Nam Chang-hee and my friends, and my first impression was not bad."
But the meeting did not last long. Kim Na-young said, "He sent messages every morning and kept in touch, but about three weeks after we met, that person appeared on the morning news," and "I was so surprised to see reports that he was arrested on fraud charges that I called Cho Sae-ho right away." She said, "It seemed Cho Sae-ho had no idea about that," and added, "Looking back later, I felt it was not a blind date but an approach with investment in mind."
This episode was also mentioned once earlier on the 2014 MBC entertainment program 'Se-bakwi'. At the time, Kim Na-young expressed anger, saying, "He was someone Cho Sae-ho introduced as a brotherlike figure, but he was arrested on fraud charges." Cho Sae-ho also explained his relationship with the person on the broadcast. He confessed, "When I was having a hard time, that brother told me about his experiences and gave me great courage," and "But later I found those words were lies too." He bowed his head, saying, "It is true he was arrested." He even knelt on the broadcast and directly apologized to Kim Na-young.
Because of this, Cho Sae-ho received advice from senior artist Yang Hee-eun, who said, "There is no one who is kind without reason. Be more careful with people from now on."
Recently, as various unverified speculations about Cho Sae-ho have spread, the past remarks have been resurfaced. However, that incident was an anecdote in which Cho Sae-ho was the victim, and it was clearly mentioned at the time that Cho Sae-ho had no direct connection to the fraud allegations.
