Singer MC Mong publicly supported comedian Park Narae and Cho Sae-ho, who were embroiled in a private life controversy.
On the 14th, MC Mong posted on his personal social media defending Park Narae and Cho Sae-ho.
He said, "This is really too much. In past broadcasts they pulled together clips and made fun of Park Narae while she did variety shows, laughing and saying it was good then, and now presenting it as if they predicted it — is that really something a person would do?" He added, "I won't say who it was on 'Star King.' A child fortune teller who mistook someone else and gave a cue to me is treated as if they foretold the future and made money, and the boy's father came to the waiting room and said it was actually someone else and he had misidentified the person and it was meant as a joke so please understand. But that one thing can make someone's life miserable for years," emphasizing his own experience.
He continued, "If entertainers are stepping down, please, if you did something wrong don't hide — announce your position honestly and if you need to be punished accept it openly. Public officials mess up and go to work the next day and get scolded; why try to take away their jobs and what right do you have to do that? How could even Lee Hyori and Yang Se-chan be just privately joking with Park Narae? Why can't people speak up and stop being so cautious?"
MC Mong also advised Park Narae, "Sincerely reach a settlement with your managers. Even if you have something to apologize for or if you feel wronged, it's already too late. It seems they are already filing lawsuits worth hundreds of millions of won, and if there is a violation of the Medical Service Act they should be punished. Just state the facts in organizing your position."
He added, "After all, this is a hard year-end for everyone and nobody is so free as to hate Park Narae or Cho Sae-ho. So don't hide — if there's something to be punished, be punished, and even later don't disappear like me forever; make people laugh more. The entertainment industry really lacks loyalty."
Park Narae has recently been embroiled in controversy over disputes with former managers. The former managers alleged not only that they suffered 'gapjil' abuse but also that they were registered as one-person agencies, and raised suspicions of illegal medical procedures through a 'syringe aunt' and filed charges against Park Narae. In response, Park Narae filed a countersuit against the former managers on charges of extortion.
Meanwhile, Cho Sae-ho suspended broadcasting activities amid allegations of ties to organized crime. One internet user claimed Cho Sae-ho was close to Choi, an influential figure in the archipelago region's largest organization, who ran illegal online gambling sites, laundered illegal funds and more, and alleged that Cho Sae-ho received expensive gifts in return and even promoted a franchise. Photos purportedly taken of Cho Sae-ho and Choi were also released in the process. However, Cho Sae-ho's side denied the claims, saying Choi was only a casual acquaintance and any paid financial relationship was unfounded.
