Singer Jvcki Wai said she was a victim of dating violence by music producer and ex-lover Vangdale, and as the two sides make conflicting claims the dispute over the truth is spreading. The agency AOMG has taken steps to respond through legal procedures.
On the 12th, Jvcki Wai posted on her personal social media that she had been assaulted by her ex-lover and released photos showing bruises on her face and body. She wrote, "I could not go outside for two weeks," and "He knocked on the door and entered the password to stop me from leaving," saying she had no choice but to make the disclosure for a safe breakup.
Jvcki Wai also released what appeared to be an email and voice messages believed to belong to the person she identified as the attacker. Afterward, Vangdale posted a profanity-laced rebuttal on social media appealing that he was wronged, which identified him as the person involved in the disclosure.
In response, Vangdale denied the dating violence allegations outright on social media, saying, "You are portraying this as a picture of someone hurt while trying to stop a disturbance." But on the 14th Jvcki Wai posted additional messages saying, "I admit I slapped him, but I was the victim of most of the assaults and verbal abuse," countering Vangdale's claims. She also alleged confinement and threats with a weapon, saying she had reported the abuse to Vangdale's former agency in the past and received an apology but regretted continuing the relationship.
Regarding the controversy, Jvcki Wai's agency AOMG issued an official statement on the evening of the 15th. AOMG said, "Jvcki Wai shared with the company that she was a victim of dating violence arising from their relationship, and the matter is currently being handled through legal procedures." It added, "We are providing all necessary support, including legal counsel, with the artist's physical and mental safety and recovery as the top priority."
AOMG said, "This matter is currently under review through judicial procedures," and added, "We will refrain from additional comment on specific details that could affect investigations and legal judgments." It also urged restraint, saying, "The spread of unfounded speculation or unverified information and actions that could lead to secondary harm can cause further wounds to the artist."
Jvcki Wai and Vangdale worked together on Jvcki Wai's full-length album "Mollak," released in July of this year, with Vangdale producing all the tracks. Earlier in February they released the collaborative single "Spoil U." Jvcki Wai officially debuted in 2016 with the EP "EXPOSURE" and is currently signed to AOMG. Vangdale is a producer signed to KC, founded by rapper Sik-K.
With the two sides' claims sharply at odds, the controversy is expected to be resolved through investigation and legal judgment.<
