GRIM Production, a subculture-focused label, presented a Christmas special group cover featuring all eight of its virtual artists for the end of the year.
GRIM Production released a video of the Christmas special group cover "Snow halation," featuring all eight of its virtual artists, on its official YouTube channel at 6 p.m. on the 14th.
In particular, the project is significant as it is the first group song since the founding of GRIM Production to feature all of its signed artists. The virtual girl group WISHes' Isla·Mmmne, artist Moi with a unique musicality, the bright and energetic-voiced Myamyu, and the four-member girl group Saryeonghwa's Cheongmok·Bihwa·Maehwarin·Baekhee, who debuted in November, a total of eight artists participated and created synergy.
The original "Snow halation" is a representative winter classic by the school idol group μ's from the popular Japanese anime Love Live!. The eight GRIM Production artists, each with different vocal tones and charms, formed a single harmony in this cover and reinterpreted the song's overwhelming emotion in their own colors.
Immediately after the cover video was released, fans poured out praise with comments such as "the best Christmas present," "the illustrations are so pretty," and "my heart feels warm," generating a strong response.
The producer lineup also draws attention. The arrangement for the cover song was handled by JUSTICEBACTERIA (Jeong Ui-gyun), who has been noted for unique sounds on YouTube and in the major music scene. He recently gained industry attention by participating in the arrangement of the title track "Deja Vu" for girl group RESCENE's second single album "Dearest."
The core of this collaboration is that it preserved the original song's distinctive energy while adding a cappella elements to further showcase the vocal abilities of the eight artists. Adding JUSTICEBACTERIA's unique musical color enhanced the song's completeness.
To commemorate the release of the group cover video, special merchandise was also launched. Using the main illustrations featuring the artists from the music video, a "group acrylic korotto" was produced to stimulate fans' desire to collect. The merchandise can be viewed on the fandom-based community platform Pending GRIM Production shop page.
GRIM Production said the cover project was planned to express gratitude to fans who have shown abundant love throughout the year and added that, like the beautiful harmony created by the eight artists, it will continue to deliver GRIM Production's unique enjoyment through diverse music and content.
Meanwhile, GRIM Production's Christmas special group cover "Snow halation cover by GRIM Production ARTISTS" can be enjoyed on GRIM Production's official YouTube channel.
