Singer Jvcki Wai said she was subjected to dating violence by her former boyfriend, music producer Vangdale.
Jvcki Wai recently posted photos and a message on her personal social media saying she had been subjected to dating violence by her ex. The released photos in particular showed Jvcki Wai's face and body stained with bruises as if someone had hit her hard, causing shock.
Regarding this, he said, "I couldn't go outside for two weeks," and explained the reason for the revelation, saying, "To those who ask why I'm posting this on social media and pretending to be a victim: earlier he knocked on my door and entered the password for an hour. On the day I was hit he wouldn't let me leave his house. Completely breaking up could only be done this way. After I posted it he stopped contacting me. I'm sorry if this makes you uncomfortable."
The released emails and voice messages also drew attention. The sender using the nickname 'Spiller' apologized to Jvcki Wai, saying, "Baby, I'm sorry. I'm in front of your house. I'll do better, please forgive me." But Jvcki Wai exposed that in response she "cursed at him because after saying that he didn't open the door."
Afterward Vangdale also refuted Jvcki Wai's claims on his personal social media and the identity of the ex accused of dating violence was specified. Vangdale lashed out with profanity along with a photo that seemed to rebut messages accusing him. He claimed, "If you don't even know what's going on, shut up. You XXX. I'm the one who got hit 99% of the time and got cursed at, and you're using a photo of me trying to stop a riot like XXX to make me look like the bad guy. You XXX. If you knew the humiliation I endured you couldn't even talk back. Please know before you speak."
In response, Jvcki Wai posted an additional message on the 14th and rebutted. She said, "I was hit so much I felt like X, I admit I slapped him. But I was the one who was hit 99% of the time and insulted, yet you only posted what happened to you to send me into a tailspin. This is truly outrageous. It makes no sense. This is real."
She added, "I wanted to be satisfied with permanently cutting him off, but he never admits how serious his actions are or thinks it's wrong. If I only wrote words I'd look like someone attacking an innocent person, so I gathered as much evidence as possible and posted it, but he distorts his own memory to rationalize it, which is disgusting and makes my blood boil."
She said, "He locked me in a room, brought a computer monitor, cursed at me and smashed it in front of me, took my phone fearing I'd call the police, and when I shouted and resisted asking to go out and for him to give me my phone back he justified it by saying I hit him and caused a commotion so he was pushed. Before the appointment I was at that XX's house with him; he lied saying he was going to a cafe but then asked if I was going to a club, his eyes went wild and he locked me in the room saying 'You won't ever get out' while screaming and cursing. He kept shoving me as I tried to leave so I fell to the floor, threatened me by throwing things. When he went to the kitchen to get a knife I tried to call the police with my phone but he took it. When I made a scene he slapped me and knocked me down again and choked me so I couldn't breathe. You're trash," she said, saying she was even threatened with a weapon, which caused shock.
In particular, Jvcki Wai said, "At first it was a small object like an e-cigarette. Then it was a water bottle, then a pot, then a grab at my collar. When my collar was grabbed I reported it to the police and called Director KC to say this happened and that I might not be able to release the album and apologized. The director said, 'I'm sorry that happened' and asked, 'Can't you just talk to him and not tell others?' I didn't want to cause trouble for others. And when he apologized and asked sincerely I softened and took him back. Looking back I should have ended it then and I regret it," appealing that the level of violence escalated gradually.
He also said, "After the day he confined me, all I could think was 'how do I break up?' No matter how many times I tried to break up he would say he'd do XX if I left, that he'd ruin my career and make my life X, saying my life was already ruined and that I should be grateful for the chance he gave me, then when I blocked him he'd come begging again in an endless cycle. Then he'd say it wasn't sincere and he only said it in anger to justify the abuse. I became used to that and responded carelessly," she revealed.
She also said, "The day before yesterday he said he'd beat me to death and finish me off. What he feared most was these things becoming known and his reputation being ruined. When he came to my house the day before yesterday I didn't open the door and for the first time I thought I might die. Even if I reported it to the police there's nothing they can do besides escort him home. While dating him I became increasingly isolated and it became hard to meet people, and there was no one to help me," she alleged, adding to the sorrow.
Eventually her agency stepped in. Jvcki Wai's agency, AOMG, in a statement on the evening of the 15th said, "Jvcki Wai shared with the company that she suffered dating violence in the relationship, and the matter will be handled according to legal procedures. Prioritizing the artist's physical and mental safety and recovery, we are providing all necessary support, including legal counsel." AOMG also urged people to refrain from spreading unfounded speculation out of concern for secondary harm and emphasized, "We will work to ensure the artist can perform in a safe environment."
Jvcki Wai was active in the underground scene and officially debuted in 2016 when she released her first EP Exposure as a full album. She is currently an artist under AOMG. Vangdale is a producer under KC, founded by rapper Sik-K. The two collaborated on Jvcki Wai's full-length album Collapse released in July. Vangdale produced the entire album, and earlier in February the two released the collaboration single Spoil U.
