Reliable rising star Ahn Bo-hyun returns in 2026 with his first tvN romantic comedy, "Spring Fever."
Scheduled to premiere Jan. 5, 2026, tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama "Spring Fever" (directed by Park Won-guk, written by Kim A-jeong) is a hot pink romance set on a spring day that will melt the frozen hearts of teacher Yoon Bom (played by Lee Ju-bin), who feels the cold wind biting, and Seon Jae-gyu (played by Ahn Bo-hyun), a man with a burning heart.
Ahn Bo-hyun meets viewers as Seon Jae-gyu, a person of interest who stirs up the town with his outrageous behavior. Despite his large build and rough first impression that evokes back alleys, Jae-gyu has the unexpected charm of a passionate and steadfast romantic; after meeting Yoon Bom, he begins to waver like a spring breeze.
As curiosity grows about how he will embody the rush-first "tough guy" Seon Jae-gyu, Ahn Bo-hyun directly shared his thoughts on taking part in "Spring Fever" today (the 15th).
Regarding why he chose the project, Ahn Bo-hyun said he was drawn to the charm of the dialect-speaking character "Seon Jae-gyu" and found the fast-paced story entertaining. He added frankly that the scenery and atmosphere of the seaside town were beautiful and, since his hometown is Busan, he felt confident about performing the dialect.
Describing the character, Ahn Bo-hyun defined Seon Jae-gyu as a "straightforward man who won't back down when pushed by spring, but who rushes in and leaves someone stunned when he pulls them in." He said that although his exterior may seem strong and intimidating to some, his inner self is warmer than anyone's and he cannot stand injustice. He expressed special affection for the character, saying he finds the frank and endearing aspects charming.
Ahn Bo-hyun also revealed aspects of his physical preparation, saying that because Jae-gyu needed an unapproachable presence and physique, he worked out consistently whether there were shoots or not, and even brought exercise equipment like dumbbells to the set to build his body in spare moments.
Naming three keywords that best express the character "Seon Jae-gyu," Ahn Bo-hyun chose "energy (Jae-gyu)," "steadfast love (Bom)," and "uncle who dotes on his nephew (Han-gyeol)." He concluded by saying, "We all enjoyed filming in Pohang from the hot summer to the cold winter. I will greet you in January of the new year with an energetic drama like 'Seon Jae-gyu.' Please show a lot of love and interest," and he did not forget to urge viewers to tune in.
