Actor Choi Philip shared an update on his son who beat childhood cancer.
Choi Philip said on the 13th, "Our Dowoon has already been finished with treatment for three years. Every year around this time, I look back on the days I had taken so much for granted. I always tell myself 'nothing bad will happen,' but a corner of my heart still quietly lifts its head with anxiety and fear," he said.
He continued, "Still, now he gets tests without complaint and bravely gets CT scans by himself, and when I see that I feel grateful first, thinking, 'Ah, he has really grown a lot.'"
He added, "My simple method to make him like the hospital is very straightforward. The 'ppabang-i' reward given after every test. So even now, Dowoon gets so excited the night before going to the hospital that he loses sleep. Not knowing his father's feelings…"
He also urged, "Next week we will go to hear the results, and I don't know why this one week feels especially long in the way time is passing so quickly. Please pray that our Dowoon continues to grow up healthy, just as he is now."
Meanwhile, Choi Philip married a non-celebrity nine years his junior in 2017 and had his first daughter in 2019, two years later. Then in February 2023 he had a son. However, it was later revealed with regret that his second son, who was four months old, was diagnosed with childhood cancer and has now received a determination of treatment completion.
