Famous director Rob Liner and his wife Michelle Singer Liner were found stabbed to death at their Los Angeles home, and the couple's son has become a suspect.
On the 14th (local time), according to U.S. media including the New York Post, police responded to the dwellings that afternoon and said they found a man and a woman who had been stabbed.
According to sources, the couple's 32-year-old son and screenwriter Nick Liner is being named as the prime suspect in this stabbing rampage. People reported on Sunday that the couple's daughter Romy discovered her parents.
The Los Angeles Fire Department told local broadcaster NBC Los Angeles that a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman were found dead inside the house, which matches Rob and Michelle's ages.
An LAPD spokesperson said detectives from the major crimes division were also on the scene. The road in front of director Rob Liner's house was blocked, and detectives were seen entering and leaving the house.
LA Fire Department paramedics rushed to the dwellings at about 3:30 p.m. that day. Shortly afterward, officers responded to a "death investigation" call regarding the dwellings. That refers to the situation when firefighters discover a death scene and notify police.
The couple, who were last seen together in April, married in 1989 and had three children: Jake, Nick and Romy. Liner has an adopted daughter from his late ex-wife Penny Marshall.
In 2016 their son Nick revealed that he had struggled with past drug addiction and homelessness. He said, "I was homeless in Maine, I was homeless in New Jersey, I was homeless in Texas. I slept on the streets and lived on the streets for weeks at a time. It was never a pleasant experience."
