Singer and producer Zico (ZICO) surprised fans by previewing a meeting with Japanese musician Lilas (Lilas, YOASOBI Ikura) as they hinted at a collaboration.
On the 13th at 10 p.m., Zico posted "Let's DUET!" on his official social media and YouTube channel and released a video discussing work with Lilas.
That day Zico introduced the song by saying, "While working, Lilas and I looked for a genre where we could coexist on one track. We are thinking of the title 'DUET,'" and played a portion of the song. To the bright, upbeat melody, Lilas said, "It's cool and the best. I'm really looking forward to it," expressing admiration, and Zico also said, "I hope you can make the part I temporarily filled for Lilas well," increasing curiosity about the collaboration.
The digital single "DUET," released at 12 a.m. on the 19th, is a song that highlights the harmony of two people who on the surface have completely opposite tones and different visual styles. They are each regarded as top-tier representatives of Korean hip-hop and Japanese band music. Because of that, news of their collaboration drew intense interest.
Previously, Zico has steadily expanded his musical spectrum by working with artists across various genres. Especially this year, following "EKO EKO" with m-flo that crossed borders, he showcased global influence by teaming up with Lilas. Attention is focused on Zico's new song as he continues his new challenges.
