Former national fencing representative Nam Hyun-hee released a non-prosecution decision document.
On the 13th, Nam Hyun-hee shared on her social media a non-prosecution decision regarding allegations of aiding and abetting fraud under the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes and violations of the Act on the Regulation and Punishment of Criminal Proceeds Concealment.
The disclosed non-prosecution decision states that Nam Hyun-hee has no charges due to insufficient evidence, and contains the statement, "Rather than the suspect recognizing Jeon Cheong-jo's fraudulent acts or other criminal acts against the accuser, it is judged to be closer to being used by Jeon Cheong-jo."
Regarding this, Son Su-ho of the law firm Jihyeok said on his social media, "Finally received the prosecution's non-prosecution decision for coach Nam Hyun-hee's case. It once again clearly confirmed the reason for no charges."
He added, "'Used by Jeon Cheong-jo,' 'iCloud password was even provided and verified,' 'no evidence was found to recognize Jeon Cheong-jo's prior fraud conviction, unpaid security guard wages, or ongoing fraud investigations' — with this, the civil case is over and the criminal case is over," he explained.
Son said, "But there are still many serious insulting comments. Recently I checked and countless, very diverse and creative sexually derogatory comments have been posted from all over the country. The content and level are shocking," and emphasized, "This is clearly a crime and subject to punishment. Please refrain."
Previously, on her social media in August 2023, Nam Hyun-hee announced her divorce from former cycling national representative Gong Hyo-seok and simultaneously confessed, "Someone has come into my and my daughter's family who gives sincere, blind love," announcing her remarriage to Jeon Cheong-jo.
In an interview, Jeon Cheong-jo said he majored in equestrianism and is involved in arts and physical education training businesses and IT businesses at home and abroad. He said he met Nam Hyun-hee to learn fencing for business purposes, their teacher-student relationship developed into a romantic relationship, and they even affectionately did a photo shoot together.
However, after the remarriage announcement, questions about Jeon Cheong-jo poured in online. Although introduced as a third-generation chaebol, there was almost no known record of him in Korea, and when pictures from high school were revealed, suspicions about his identity and even his exact gender grew uncontrollably.
Eventually reports emerged claiming about Jeon Cheong-jo, "not the illegitimate child of a chaebol chairman, not a former equestrian athlete, and not a man but a woman," and "embezzled about 300 million won from seven victims." Nam Hyun-hee, who had announced marriage to him, fell from grace in an instant and faced suspicions of being an accomplice.
Jeon Cheong-jo was arrested on charges of fraud under the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, and Nam Hyun-hee countered, "I had no knowledge of Jeon Cheong-jo's fraudulent acts and was used by Jeon Cheong-jo. You cannot say I did things I did not do." After fighting in court with fraud victims who accused her of being an accomplice, she ultimately won the case and was cleared of the false charges.
